Default 2801 vs 2601 Transmitter

Hi Gents,

I am looking to buy a 4g3 - could anyone recommend the differences between the 2601 and the 2801 tx?

Also, any big differences between the 4g3 and 4g6?

Many Thanks in advance,

Ben

Hi Ben,

The 2801TX is fully programmable so you can set the heli up properly, with the 2601 you can only set it up to an extent. The 2601 doesn't have a throttle hold switch.

The main difference between the helis is, the tail on the 4G6 is torque tube driven and it has an HH gyro. The 4G6 is basically the new version of the 4G3.

The tail may not sound like much, but driven tails work generally work so much better on CP helis than motored tails.

Which 4G3 are you looking at? If it has any brushed motors, you would want to upgrade them to brushless straight away. I bought my 4G3 when they first became available, and upgraded it as soon as the upgrades became available. If I was buying one now, I would definitely go for the 4G6 and 2801Pro.

Thanks for the reply Dusty.

I was looking st the double brushless version - but if you strongly recommend the 4g6 maybe worth spending the extra couple of quid??

All the Best,

Ben

Absolutely.

The 4G6S Mk2 is what I'm waiting for. The S designation means it has a 3 axis gyro, which at the moment Walkera are marketing towards beginners as it'll make the heli much more stable and easier to fly. 3 axis gyros are also commonly used for flybarless helis, the only problem with the current Walkera offering is that it has plenty of issues like you can't adjust the throttle curve, and the throttle hold switch won't work with it. Basically you can't use most of the programming functions of the 2801TX. Even so, some folk have fitted aftermarket or home-made flybarless heads with good results.

Walkera have just announced a flybarless version of the 4#6

So hopefully it won't be long before they sort the electronics out and bring out a similar 4G6S. Then, I will be interested, IF it works properly

Dusty

Fella's, if you know of anyone looking for a 2801 Pro TX, I am selling one for £100 ono. Can also throw in a 4G6 with a new set of wooden blades, CF Blades and modded Gaui mixer arms, but needs a new feathering shaft and canopy, all for £160 (2 Months old).

Now flying big heli's and have had to move to a TX & RX combination that is reputable for flying the bigger stuff, hence the reason for selling.

Just PM me if interested.

Hi Dusty,
Well, she arrived this week and I eagerly rushed home from work to give it at try...

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MACHINE................ Perfect hover straight out of the box (even with my flying skills!) Blades tracked perfectly and don't think I'll need the training gear I ordered with it. Very sensitive on the sticks, but a complete work of art. (I dread the day of the first crash as it's gonna be mighty fiddly but until then...

Enough of the gushing but, Thanks so much Dusty for the advice,

All th Best,

Ben

Hi Ben, that's great to hear. These little Walkeras are really neat, folk just don't know what they're missing until they get one.

Happy flying

Dusty

Hi Ben,

That's unfortunate but all part of the game. You did well to last this long without a crash

I noticed you posted your thread in the 4#6 forum rather than the 4G6 forum. I sent a pm to a mod so hopefully it'll be moved, then you'll likely get all the help you need. I'd best let the guys with a 4G6 try to help you since they'll be a lot more familiar with the heli than I am

Once you've crashed a few times you get to know what tends to need fixed, the first crash is always the worst.

Hope you're back in the air soon

Dusty

i actually just bought a used novus cp that came with the stock 6 channel tx and luckily for me the tx broke during shipping. i got the postal service to pay for the damage which was 100 dollars. i added another 30 to it and so i bought a 2801 as a replacement. so i spent 130 on a novus cp with 7 sets of blades and a 2801 tx. i dont think it was a bad deal seeing that the 2801 is over 130 alone.

6 Channel heli came with 2401 (4 channel TX)? I don't think so.

My first heli was a TT, and man everytime I landed hard, I needed to replace those tail gears. After that, I stayed with Belt tails or with the 4g3 DBL. But once I get really good with my flyin skill, I'll go back to TT.
