Diabolo Parts Availability/Cost & General Support
Hey Minicopter fans, as the title says, how are Minicopter parts availability and cost? How are the manuals and support (besides here)?
I am contemplating a Logo 600SE build after having a Logo 500 V-Bar for 2 years. At IRCHA however, I was in compete awe when I saw the Diabolo flight demo. In the short 4 years that I've been in the heli side of the hobby (and at IRCHA) I've never seen a heli fly so fast, hard, and smooth. It made me question whether I should be looking at a true 700 size Diabolo instead. That said parts availability (and cost) still are a large factor in my decision. My flight style is not hard 3D but not all big-air either. Sort of a mix of both. Any and all opinions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Gerds operation is similar to Jans, the parts availability is not a problem, for cost check his website.
Manuals are on the internet. Mine is already ordered, he has already got 100 reservations, not sure how many he can build a year but if you want one, better contact him |

Craze, you're the first person I know who will have a TDR and a Diabolo. Once you get the latter, please post your thoughts on how they compare.

The manuals are superb, you can download the Joker3 ones. I have always have had great support from Minicopter for my Joker3 for parts. Fwiw the joker 3 flies very much like a big Logo 600 and I would guess the Diabolo would be similar.

To the folks that pre-ordered, you guys actually had to pay full price to pre-order the kit? Something about that pre-order method just seems wrong. I could deal with making a reasonable deposit up to something like 50% but to pay $1100 upfront without getting a guaranteed ship date seems crazy to me.

I went through Gerd directly, he did not ask for any money, perhaps this is the US dealer asking for full payment. I must admit if it was me i would not be happy with that

Yes US dealer is asking for full payment in advance , I undesrtand maybe a $100 or $200 deposit but even 50% ($550) is too much just to reserve a kit that you don't know when will be shipped.

Guys, I'm really on the fence here between getting this or a Logo 600SE.
I would REALLY like to try the Diabolo. I also just realized that I could use (2) of my 6s 5000mAh packs from my L500 so there's a big battery cost savings right there. Problem is, I don't have the full $$ amount right now to put down at the US dealer. Dave

Payment in advance for a pre-order? I mean (and hope) that this is a misunderstanding. Perhaps he means before he will ship a kit to you that he would have in stock then.
Kits are in preparation, but will need some weeks to be completed for the US and I can post here when they are ready. |

There is incorrect information being posted. Unfortunately, Helix Hobbies can not post to clarify the deposits.
At all times, a deposit could be placed without having to pay in full if HH was informed. Their system does not process deposits and needs to be done on the backend. I now see on their website, you can request to be notified when the kits arrive. There are no more pre-paid orders being accepted. Hope this post stays and clarified this concern. |

do you mean how many kw the heli is rated for? Well there are guys flying this thing with 560kv for example, anywhere from 1200 to 2200+ rpm. I remember on a German forum (I don't know if I#m allowed to link to other forums on here) a guy posted just what kind of an insane amount of torque it would take to destroy the belt going to the tail - to sum it up, you should be good no matter how high you turn your blades. That being said, when I ordered my Diabolo (I'm still waiting so no personal experience flying it yet) I was told by minicopter that they only allow 2000 RPM max from factory, even though you can fly with more. I exchanged info with one of their pilots on a German forum who said that even at 1500RPM this thing does 3D quite well. There are demo videos on Youtube of mild 3d at 1200 RPM on the Diabolo.
My Engine will probably have either 470 or 510 Kv. EDIT: Found some new info for you: One of their factory pilots flies a 540 kv Scorpion with a 19 tooth pinion with RPMs: 1400-1700-2100. He says he preferrs flying at 1700 as there is plenty of power for all sorts of moves and the flight times are still good. hope that helps |

Yes. I think the TDR is 4KW.
The TDR handle more power really well, but the gears can wear over time. Hope Gerd starts shipping soon! |
