Just like Matt says in the video. His Synergy is setup for a normal 12S setup, probably using Castle governor. He uses one battery, plugs it into the harness per usual. The other half of the harness where he normally would plug in his second battery pack now needs a simple jumper to bridge the two wires in that connector. Now he's just running 6S setup. The governor never sees the programmed RPM, so it simply runs the motor flat out 100% throttle. Very efficient setup, but obviously much lower head speed.
This does work very well, but you need to have pretty good collective management to fly the way he is flying. You don't have oodles of reserve power- the motor is already running flat out- so you just have to keep the collective demands "reasonable".

Jumper. Take a battery connector. That you use. Ec5 or whatnot. And solder a wire between both pins. Eliminating the second battery and completing the circuit

Just wondering how hard it is on the flight pack? And can you really expect long flight times? Sent from my GT-I9070 using Tapatalk 2 |

Its not hard on the 6s at all. On a normal 700 size heli you are pulling 25-30 amps just hovering. Well with a 6s 1000-1300 RPM you will be pulling around 10-30 amp and maybe a max amp spike of 40-60 or so amp. Its actually easier on your pack than using 2 in a 12s config.
You are going a lot slower with the motor but it will have a lot of torque, you need to up your collective also to around 12 or 13 if you arent already. The low RPM will give the motor a lot more torque than regular 2100 RPM flying so it can pull through with that pitch. I am looking to do some 6s flying with my Rush but I dont think the weight will allow for much of a 3d flight.

can someone post a diagram or picture of the jumper needed. its easier for me to see it rather than read about how to make it...

I've read you need to be really good on the collective or you will get a boom strike. Is this true guys?

Re: 'slow mo' flying..
It is as easy as it gets. Take an EC5 that you would normally use for a battery. Strip the ends of a 2 inch length of 10 ga wire. Solder one end of this wire to one of the EC5 bullets. Solder the other end to the other EC5 bullet. Insert bullets into EC5...done.

A motor will not make more TQ with less Voltage. If Voltage is kept constant, but the RPM is changed, then yes, More Tq. Tq = HP*RPM/5252 Tq is RPM Related HP is Watts. Volts x Amps 746W=1HP If you halve the voltage, you half the Wattage, THUS Half the HP. And then, Half the HP, PLUS the motor now spins at HALF the speed, you get 4X less Tq

Here's a crude picture of what you want to make. You get the idea...

okay so make that and just use that with my current series connector i use now for 12s?
plug that in the side i would put 1 battery and then put the actual battery the other, correct? lol

Correct! The jumper takes the place of the battery you have removed from the series setup.
Just use a good gauge wire (the crude drawing above looks like skimpy wire) - 8 ga is best, 10ga will work fine.

well if that's all it is then i guess im going to try this out. i feel as if im pretty good with the collective control so i should be okay to do a little sport flying. all i have is 10 ga so that will have to work at the time. not sure when i will try it but i will try to get a video

It just feels like more torque, but ultimately less power because you dont have that head speed pushing. Collective management does have to be good but again with the lower head speed and less thrust, its a little easier to pull some manuevers cleanly.
