Main gear got out of position, rubbing frame.
Hi everyone,
After a somewhat hard landing today I noticed my main gear/ I believe main shaft is now too low, and the main gear is actually touching/rubbing my frame. I'm not sure how to remedy this, I tried loosening the collar that's on the main shaft and pushing the gear up, but to no avail. I'm guessing the entire main shaft is too low and I need to raise it up. Is it possible to fix this without disassembly?

Your whole main shaft has dropped and taken the maingear etc. with it (you can see more than you should of it poking out below the bottom bracket in the first picture).
You need to push the main shaft up from below - but it may well be too tight to do so with the belt at full tension, so you will (at a minimum) need to loosen the front and back belt tension. When you push the mainshaft up you will find a gap under the collar above the top bearing block so you'll need to drop that down then. Also check the bottom Jesus bolt as they are designed to be sacrificial. I would also check the feathering shaft is still true. Last edited by Mikej; 04-07-2018 at 02:44 AM.. |

Just to update this thread, I did have to replace the main gear/jesus bolt and main shaft. When I was landing I tipped over before I could hit throttle hold and sheared the jesus bolt nearly clean. Anyway, Heli is fixed and back in the air.
