curious about UFLY stability

Is the UFLY self stablizing (like a Blade 120 SR) or need constant input to keep it stable. Is the flybar at 90 or 45 degrees.

Not self stabilizing. Has 3 axis gyro (I fly with it off). 90* flybar

I am curious about what is a 3-axis gyro. How does it function compared to whatever else is used (a standard gyro?).

The three axis gyro (as I understand it) basically is a rudamentary MEMS Gyro that helps to "stabilize" all the control perameters of Aileron, Elevator and Tail so that majorlly erratic and sudden moves are toned down and buffered to keep the heli more stable than without it and keep the tail closer to a HH than rate mode.

It does help slightly with heli stability, but if I understand your first question correctly, you are thinking in terms of stability as more along the lines of a coaxial heli as opposed to a single rotor either FP or CP heli.

Coaxial helis are self stabilizing. If you let go of the controls, they will pretty much right themselves into a fairly stable hover.

However, CP and FP helis will simply bring you high repair bills if you try to let go of the controls for any length of time! They require CONSTANT, small input and correction to maintain their stability in hover or flight.

it does help. I am trying to understand the difference between a a 3 axis gyro and whhatever other kind of gyros are being used. My Big lama has a gyro but did not see any mention of it being three axis.

As for stability, I am learning quite a bit. There are some FP heli's that are self stabilizing. If they have a 45 degree flybar like a 120 SR, they self stabilize. If the are FBL or have a 90 degree flybar then they are not self stabilzing and require constant similar to a CP.
