Default adjusting torque comp?

So I'm starting to get a few flights on my E700, & I notice the tail kicks a bit (2-3inchs) to the right when I do pitch pumps. Seems to be over compensating a bit, I am running 115mm tail blades. So what setting would I adjust for this ?

First this heli likes 110mm blades. the 115 is one of the reasons for your kick.

if you stay with them - go to tail 1/2 and adjust the coll mix (down 5 at a time). you need to change the GUI to advances first in preferences->interface

Thanks

The heli comes with 105mm tail blades, maybe I will try them. Most guys recommended 115 so I bought them, but I am not a hard 3D pilot at this time, so yes 110 sounds best for me, but they are hard to find. KBDD has 112, so I put them in my cart for next order.

Which governor are you using by the way?

using the YGE gov. store, it gave the same kick with the 105mm blades, so I'll try dropping it down 5 points next time.

Just read your post again - tail kick to the right or nose to the right?

from your first description it sounds like you lack compensation - which is the usual problem.

Also this problem worsens drastically on this specific heli when the governor is not set well and the RPM drops on strong collective moves - taking off some more tail authority.

the best solution i have found setting 2 of those helies is to use the SK governor to avoid the RPM dips and after fine tuning the gain and overdrive for the governor adjust the tail compensation.

Which motor are you using BTW? the special scorpion ed.?

than your problem is the other way - lack of compensation.

Start by fine tuning your governor so you will have the least rpm dips on hard inputs. i recommend changing to SK one although YGE is also a very good one.

only then adjust the collective to tail mix. it tends to be high on the E720 don't know about the E700.

I do know one pro here using the same motor and heli only he has Scorpion 160HV. no great difference. i'll check his mix value.

Checked - he is using the default 25 for coll mix.

EDIT - he is the one with the 110mm blades.

So getting more flight time on my 700 now & still has a bit of a tail kick when I go full collective.... I've got my collec mix up to 50....I'm thinking that's plenty high already....

I'm running 112 blades, & I prefer to stick with YGE gov. store. I'm going to dial my max collective down to 12 & try that, I think it's set around 12.5, otherwise I don't know what else to do....

Default Start Stop Acceleration

I have never really had any luck with the mix. Add (it might be subtract?? its been a while ) 5-10 points to the Right Start Accel that should decrease the torque kick.

The YGE gov pales compared to the Sk gov, no matter what motor. I have YGE on my helis and in no way does the gov remotely compare with how well the SK gov performs. Especially on 700 size and up helis. You will be amazed at how much better the Sk gov is.
Yeah, you can most certainly try to address the tail kick by tuning the Skookum. But to me this is no more than a bandaid over the real issue. So do yourself a favor and buy the cheap $4 HW phase sensor. No esc based gov out there performs as well as the Skookum gov you already own and paid for, so why not use it?

+1. your mix is the highest I've heard of and points to another problem needing a solution....
LMH advise is the first, maybe also headspeed too low? or wrong gearing causing larger RPM drops?

Alright I'll do the SK gov. but I need this phase sensor? You mean the Hobby Wing rpm sensor?

Yes! The Yge gov is good as omerco said. But oh man is the Sk version better. Instead of the reactive small bog and spool up. Which is hard for any gyro to compensate for. The gov action the Sk gives is proactive. It sees the need for rpm ramps before the pitch command is even seen by the cyclic servos, and is already commanding rpm increases before the load is seen. So unless you are really pounding things with successive full pitch related movements. The gov action is uncannily seamless. I can still get my 800 to bog down during successive hard hamfisted elev tocs. But not on my 700.

Of course some of this is related to blade weight, gearing, and head speed. No gov out there can overcome all the outside factors if any of this is loading the system. On my 800 the blades are pretty heavy versions.

Doesn't the yge has an auxiliary wire for rpm?
If you have a fairly new model think you dont need the HW one. Check on Mr Mell site.

LMH?

Yes, the new ones do. Mine didn't. I have a new Yep coming in the mail this week for a 600 I am building for a local pilot. Lets see if that has it?

Ok looks like I have the wire, now do I need to make up an adapter wire like Mr Mel showed on his video, or can I just plug it in as is?

Well I did the set up but I don't think it's working.....

I made the adapter wire, went through the -Heli middle-Gov off x3- plane middle on the YGE, did the set-up wizard for Gov. but when I try viewing the rpm data in the SK software the blue light is off. If I re-connect the rpm wire it lights up, but stays solid if I turn the motor by hand......
