That’s fantastic news guys!!! Bird looked great in the video. Nice building JC and nice flying ATC. Man-O-man, I’m seriously looking forward to building one of these bad boys!

thanks HH, actually that heli is much more capable than the video shows, jc500 had to use his iPhone (pretty good video still ) so had to keep it close in while flying. out in the wide open it was super sweet, took it vertical, able to see full disc, then swung it around, tail was perfect!

something of note, this was done with the v1 flybar, didn't notice a bit of bobbing with it, but a little birdy told me that it now has the v2 flybar installed

now i'm really interested to see how it will work on a cp setup, the frame will accommodates both 90° and 120°, so anxious to see if the dd will have enough umph to work as a CP, not expecting anything more than sport flying,

but to be honest, i just want to know if it will work, with my flying style a CP won't do anything for me, i fly my FC in a lot of wind and i can bring it down no problem.

it's going to be the same thing with this dd fp450, jc500 told me it looked like i was doing an auto bringing the dd FP450 down the other day, dropped it to 1/4 stick and the tail still holds perfectly with the reduced headspeed, it really does look like an auto

Tweet, tweet, tweet. Yes with the v2 fb installed it seems more stable. Will have to let my test pilot comment on that, when we try it out. :-]

ATC, your report has me all fired up! Can’t wait to start putting together one of JC’s DD frame kits. He says I might have the kit by Friday, which would be cool, but probably won’t have the rest of the parts needed to finish the build till sometime next week. This sucks, because I would have liked to put everything together over the holiday weekend.

Yeah I’m also real curious to see how well the DD motor does in a cp setup. Maybe I should just go cp right off the bat when I have everything to complete the kit.

I took the dd 450 pro fp to the LHS for the owner to try out.I do this with all my custom heli's to get his feed back.He liked it a lot and I told him I was going home to put the cp head on it. I was hoping that I could just flip the belt and put the cp head on the black angel ms I used. won't work, the stock pro ms is about1/4 " longer so the swash is to low. I used the stock pro ms but had to drill a hole in it for the tail drive pulley. Not easy LOL that is why I used the B>A> ms in the first place so no one would have to drill the ms.I will have to look around for a new one. It's been a long time sense i set up for cp. Lucky for me I recorded all the settings from long ago. It was getting dark but just had to try it to see if it was going to work. The video is bad but for tonight it shows it does work. I need to go over the whole thing in the morning then take it back to let the LHS owner try it out. I think I am on to something good here. I ordered another EXI 450 pro kit because I want a fp and a cp dd 450 pro.

Went thru the heli to fine tune a few things. Changed the tail pulley to stock 11t. Set up the head correctly and headed out to the LHS.Had Alec the owner of the LHS double check the tx settings. All is good. here's a video of the first flight with Alec as pilot.

Update : I would like to offer the dd 450 pro fp/cp frame as a kit. The wall I have run into is parts availability. The 2 parts from cnchelicopter.com are out of stock. The boom blocks and idler wheel mount I am using are 1.020 wide. They can not order till Feb 10 because of the chinese new year.I have been looking for different boom clamps and the mount for the tail belt idler wheels. No luck. When building as an fp the copterx ms works good. When building as an cp the stock pro ms must be used. The problem here is you have to drill a hole thru the ms for the tail drive pulley. I am looking for a 50/51t pulley that uses a set screw to fix that problem. I will keep you posted on my quest for parts. There has been a lot of interest on this frame. :-]

went flying with jc500 this morning, got to fly the dd CP450!!!

ok, everyone one and their brother always say, start with a FP then you can upgrade and get a CP. Well with this heli, you have both, no other heli is designed to do both! So this is a home run in my book. so with a single purchase you basically can have two heli's!

ok, so how did it fly as CP? It was... AWESOME!!!!

what's gonna be kewl is that if you end up getting both heads, then switching back and forth between FP and CP is only going to take maybe 20-30 minutes.

so if you want to do some laid back kick around flying then slap the FP head on, it you want to do some sport flying with loops and rolls throw the CP head on.

Looking good JC

Glad to hear the DD setup is working good as a collective pitch. Makes me want to skip FP and go straight to CP. Sucks though the BA shaft can’t be used for both FP and CP. How is the motor holding up to hard pitch pumps? Can’t wait for the rest of the parts to come in so I can start building this bad boy. Glad I ordered the boom blocks and pulley guide mount from cnchelicopter when I did. Had a feeling these parts would be in high demand.

It is totally cool that JC’s DD frame kit can be setup to be a FP or CP. But to be fair, I wouldn’t said no other helicopter is design to do both. Since the FP450 is a converted CP helicopter, it doesn’t take much to convert it right back to CP.

Bro it’s awesome you’re giving this DD bird the thumbs up! I’m biting at the bit to get mine built and flying…yeah baby!!!!!!

I received the DD frame from JC on Thursday and I have to say WOW! JC’s frame making skills are off the hook! He did my kit in black g10 and I must say the pieces look awesome and I like how he personalized my frame kit with the letters HH above the boom blocks. I cant wait to start building it. Should have some parts coming today…Yeah!!!

JC also let me borrow an extra V2 DD motor he had on hand and I just want to give him a huge thank you for that Bro

Glad everything got there in one piece. The pic with the frame and motor laid out,man that motor is big!! I went thru the head again to double check everything because tomorrow we are going inverted. I am taking it out to the local field and Alec the LHS owner is going to see how it does in 3D

Got the heli ready for the 3d flight tomorrow. I have one 50t alum pulley with set screws so I installed it. Used a align pro ms. You install the tail drive gear and pro shaft and tighten the set screws so they will make a mark on the ms. Pull the ms out and drill or make a flat spot for the set screw. This locks it in so it won't slip.

It has plenty of power in both fp and cp configuration. We will find out tomorrow when we give it the cp test. I am taking both video and still pictures.
