Hey there

Not sure on range. Though, I am guessing that my rc range is less than video range, so I am limited by that!

The crash in the video was caused by losing video. It was about 500metres from me and my base station, though, there were many trees blocking the signal also.

That is quite inspiring. Nice setup, I love the simple way you mounted the GoPro.

How come you used a separate camera for the FPV downlink? Can't you use the GoPro for both SD FPV and HD recording?

Sure, I could have done that, but the gopro is not a good FPV cam in low light situations ie. cloudy days, shadows etc. The image that I get in my goggles is always sweet with the 480 OSD camera that I use, either under trees, on dark days or even thru buildings... With my desire to fly high and low, fast and slow, through trees and around stuff, I need to be able to rely on a good image in my goggles at all times no matter what light is available. Also, with the few grams that the FPV cam weighs, its no problem.

That's great to know, thanks. I always prefer the simpler approach unless there's a good reason not to. Perhaps when I get around to building an FPV setup I'll start with the GoPro for both, and take your advice if the image isn't good enough (which would depend on the gamma and contrast of the goggles, among other things).

By the way, great video! I like the outtakes at the end too.

Also, how's it holding up in crashes? Is it possible to mount the propellers using prop savers instead of hard mounts? Have you broken anything yet?

I have crashed it several times. I have only had a small crack on one prop (it was still very flyable). And, one time the motor mount popped out a little. I popped it back in and flew again. They are a very durable machine. Not sure on the prop savers. Props are relatively cheap anyhow.

thanks again mate
