Default Outrage Velocity 50 Build Videos!

OK another one on the plate and this one I am very excited about!

I saw this fly at the Lexington Kentucky funfly and Tony Whiteside who was unknown at the time and is now a rock star, was flying one and holy crap! I wanted one!

This is the newest 50 on the market and I watched over this year Charlie (rotorworkz Charlie) put a hell of a lot of time and effort into this design. I have a feeling it's going to rock and it's been a while since I have flown something designed by Charlie so I am looking forward to it!

Also folks..... Helidirect has come a long way haven't they? Remember them from 4 years ago when I first did a build video for them? Well as you can see they have become a MAJOR player in our heli hobby! There is no doubt they now run a quality shop and I think have stepped up with customer support beyond what other companies provide? Tell me if I am wrong here? I mean Greg Alderman who I have known for a long time is helping people! So you have guys with a lot of heli knowledge providing support. Again if I am all wet here tell me but I don't think I am!

OK so enough of the fan fare! Lets have some freakin fun and get on with it

First up...... What's in the box!

Maiden flight report.... CRAP I crashed it first real flight! DAMN IT.... I had a few hovers, tuning, gov setup stuff, had did some basic stuff and then went to really fly it and near the end of the tank when I rolled it over to make a low inverted pass I freakin dumb thumbed it. I was having an issue with how elevator reacted on this heli as it was pitching on me. I am sure it was the blades or something I was using but when I went to fly it inverted the nose pitched up on me and I corrected OK but because I panicked, I gave the wrong pitch and put it in inverted tail first My fault completely!

Anyway I figured I would show the carnage and a crash report... It's one TOUGH heli considering how bad I went in to be honest. So here is the video... Sorry guys but I tell it like it is and show the good with the bad including my screwing it ups!

VIDEO -> Velocity 50 - Maiden Report - Sorry I crashed (80 Megs)

Trust I will fix it and do a follow up!

Bob

Maybe you should edit the video name... "Pantera - what's in the box" does not sound right.

love mine and coming from a pair of Vibe 50s that's saying alot.

great heli.. and yes HD was VERY helpful especially Greg who took personal time to talk to me about the "special" kit I walked into and give me some special support with it when he didn't have to.

Bob, be prepared to never fly any of your other .50 size birds ever again once this one is built, it is truly amazing!

I watched a build video of this heli at heli-direct.com. It was more of an overview of the build and not nearly as detailed as Bob's normally are so I can't wait to see his. From what I saw this heli looks like one beautifully crafted machine. The canopy alone says quality. The one thing I would really like to see at the end of these videos is "cost to complete". Including servos, motor, muffler and every piece of electronics (except the radio).

Default Video Issues

Hi Bob,

Glad to see you doing this build. I have been trying to download the video but I either get the Cookies page or it says the server is not available.

I did the cookies thing but that didnt really do anything

Funny thing is that I can download other videos after getting the cookies page

George

Bob, how are these build videos coming along? I can't wait to see them! I've got my Velocity 50 kit sitting here ready to be build, just waiting for instruction from the master.

Wow, never thought I'd see this heli in the hands of Finless, something tells me you are going to love this heli, flys like no other. I hope to see a flight vid and a fireup review soon!

Maybe Bob can talk about how it compares to a Compass Knight 3D.

I hear the Velocity is one of the lightest 50 size heli out there right now.

Default Just got mine

Ordered mine through my LHS and got it yesterday. Couldn't resist, took about 6 hours but I got it together last night. This was my 4th build so I just followed several of Bob's little tips from other builds like pull the torque tube out a mm and stuff like that. The other 3 builds I have done have all been Align and I have to say that the quality of this bird is great. Not afraid to tighten the bolts worried about stripping out the heads like Align birds. Looking forward to the electronics vids Bob.
