This is my second battery with the 450.
I looked at the video of the first attempt and you could hardly call them figure 8's at all. This video is only short as the battery on the fco died. It was actually and 6 minute flight.
What do you think?? I was stoked to actually be flying around. When I got the 500 in the air the 8's look great. Cant wait to fly again. Darin

Darin, I will have a look at that video later. For some reason, youtube doesn't seem to be working atm.
My next door neighbour just bought a 2 channel helicopter. I asked him if he is going to get a 4 ch or a 6 ch next but he said he will wait and see untill he can fly the 2 ch Suppose you gotta start some where -Jonny

My boys had one of those, guess what......I killed it!!!
Tried hovering it and whilst I could get it to hover I could not control the tail, but managed to get it to hover doing piros but nothing else. If he thinks that it will help with a 4 or 6 chanel heli he is sooooooooooooo wrong. It will teach him how to throttle up but thats it. my 4 year old learnt that in about 30 seconds. Anyway I think the reason youtube wasnt working was because it was still processing, should be running now. Darin

I advised a 4 ch but he went and bought a 2 ch.
I know. He is completley wrong and it annoys me because I know he is going to get no where with it. I am obviously not going to tell him that. He even tried making a training kit for it but I told that there was no need because it doesn't have cyclic. Anyway, once he tries it he will understand that he was wrong in getting one. Only thing is that he will get over confident and buy a 6 ch thinking it will be easy but he will be wrong I will probably have to help him get a good setup when he gets a better heli. I will try youtube again and let you know if it has worked -Jonny

Looks good Darin!
I've thought of putting a camera on one of my Belts, but every use I think of for it would get me in trouble!

Darin, thats not bad. I think I am roughly at the same stage as you with flying. If you post a video of the t500 with an onboard camera I can compare the two and I will have a rough idea of how much easier it is t fly.
Cheers, Jonny

I'll post the vid as soon as I make it. Jonny the 500 is much more stable in the air and less troubled by the wind. Another thing I have found is that I have become more confident on the 450 because of the 500. I dont know why just am.
Wizard lol....... thought about that myself. Darin

Ok thanks. Yeah, I think I will become more confident with my belt aswell. It's probably because if you crash it, it wont matter so much because it's not your best heli
How much is it for the torque tube? I think I might get one because I don't want any brownouts whilst in the air:S I have thought of putting a camera on my belt but never thought of doing any thing naughty with it. But now you have given me ideas Unfortunatly I am in an area with old people so there won't be any spying through my next door neighbours bedroom window thats for sure! -Jonny

Bought the last tt in stock ia Australia it seems.
Cost me $80 aus. But if you just spray the belt of the 500 with silicon it will stop the static issue and reapply every 8-12 flights. Have seen this working and so far he has had no static brownouts at all. Darin

I think I will do the same as you did and spray the belt with silicon. Then when I get some money I will get the TT

Think I may have sold the Belt, I was putting it back together as its without a Rx at the moment and while I was working on it I noticed how many upgrades I have thrown at it.
Started working out how much I spent on it, it was too depressing, had to stop. Here is a list sg90's esky hh gyro Helimax Gear Blade 400 tail pitch slider Cnc swash K & B Tail Blades Align main Blades CF tail fins AR6100 Trex FG canopy I'm changing it back to almost stock and keeping anything I can use on the Trex Leaving the cnc swash, align woodies, k & B tails, Helimax main gear, hh Gyro, tail pitch slider and he gets all this $230 aussie. Took me ages to get all this together. Am I selling it to cheap? Will be sad to see it go but need more batteries for 500. Darin

Darin, did you have to solder on a deans onto your ESC? If so, how did you do it?
Thanks, Jonny

Yes I did.
Get a fairly big soldering iron, I use the biggest I have, because the more heat you get inti the deans the easier it is to solder. Cut the heatshrink to size and put this on first.Very important. Get a pair of plier and a rubber band, wrap the rubber band around the handle of the pliers, this make a kind of mini vice, place the male end of the deans in the pliers. Soldering is all about tinning. Once your iron is hot enough to melt solder just by touching it to the tip. Place your soldering iron onto the tab from the deans connector tab and melt a little solder onto the tab, this may take a little bit to get the tab hot enough, dont get it too hot you will melt the deans. Now do the same for the other tab. They should now be both tinned. Strip some insulation from both red and black wire on the esc.Did you remember the heatshrink? Now tin these same procedure as above, Once they are tinned you only need to reheat the deans and once to solder starts to go shiny(dont worry you will see waht I mean) place the wire on the deans and you should see it go shiny to then add a little solder and remove heat. NOW DO NOT MOVE UNTIL THE SOLDER SETS. It should now be soldered. Finless Bob does a soldering tutorial in he TREX 450 build Vid section here is the linkhttps://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=11373&page=164 He has a video on just this subject called Soldering Deans 101 Good Luck Darin

Thanks for that I have done soldering before but never done it with deans connectors.
About the heatshrink, do I get that with the ESC? And do I need to buy the deans seperate? Cheers, Jonny

Yes you need to buy the deans separate, the heatshrink should come with it.
What batteries are you going to use? The reason I ask is, I am using 2 x 3s which means I needed 3 sets of deans connectors. 2x females for the batteries 2x males + 1 female for the y connector. 1 male for the esc. If you go with 6s obviously you will only need the one. Darin

So the the heat shrink comes with the ESC or the deans?
I will be using 2 x 3s batterys. I know where to buy a Y connector with the deans on it so that doesn't matter. I just need one for the ESC. Cheers, Jonny

Yeah, everything you need except for batteries, deans and tx and rx all come with the kit. Usually when the batteries come with deans they chuck in the male with it aswell, you might get lucky.
No probs your not being a pain at all. Have you ordered yours yet? I have been grouded for a week, the days this week that were perfect flying weather I have been at work. Wake up this morning looks like a perfect day, start getting ready to fly and wouldnt you know the wind starts. I think, it will be ok later but nooooo, wasnt I wrong. Wind got stronger and stronger and STRONGER. Didnt drop off until well after the sun had gone to bed. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, lets hope so Talk later Darin
