Default keiths mini protos build thread

Ok well got my kit in today and I must say the quality blows align out of the water not trying to knock align as I have had 4 different align kits and loved them as well including the 700 I still have. so let me list what ill be running

1. mini protos barebones which came with blades thought the barebones did not include blades but ill take them anyway
2.stretch w/ 350 radix fbl
3.vbar
4. hobbywing 40 amp platinum running vbar gov
5. kst 115mg cyclic servos basically ds95 clones
6. mks 8910a tail servos
7. all three aluminum bearing and servo blocks
8. aluminum pulleys
9. metal tail pulley
10. fusono yellow tail fins
11. yellow gorilla tail blades also have some edges anyone tried the edges on the protos feedback welcome
12 yellow gorilla landing gear trying to visible cant you tell
dx8 transmitter,
13 msh scorpion 1300 kv motor
14, 4 blue lipo 1300mah pack waiting for that new thunder power 65c 1300 to come wish I could get 1600's but oh well
15. 15 tooth pinion
16. low fbl head

think thats about it will update with build pictures still waiting on the servo block since that is the first part of the build but I did build the low fbl head tonight cause I wanted to do something. proably gonna shoot for 2600 to 3000 headspeed for my 3d flight but I think I will also make a bank for 2200 to 2400 for slow flying to get more time in the air to learn some inverted orintations dont know how that will go. please guy any feedback on my setup or just comment would be great we need to get this forum moving its alot slower than the align forum but maybe thats a good thing as there is not as many problems with the mini promise ill get some pics up as soon as I get all my parts in

I will be building about the same kit soon, should be delivered tommorow.
Differences:
TP 6S 1300's
YGE ESC.
Real MKS DS95's

I couldnt get hold of the colored landing gear or tail blades.
But I have some coloured fins and blades coming from fusuno, 2 red and yellow sets, also the yellow and red assasin canopies!

I also doubled up on the kits, so I will have 2 of everything, lol

MSH Gorilla landing gear for T-Rex 450 pro are the same, i use them.

For tail blade KBDD yellow neon 61 mm seems to be better choice (higher rigidity).

Wow, Seriously looking forward to following both your build threads! It'll be pretty cool to read your opinions on flight performance and flight times!

On my Low FBL Hub I have the following:

Main Blade Grip to Swash =

- 50mm (Center-to-Center of Uniball Hand)

or if measuring the rod length from the ends of the Uniball hand =

- 21.5mm (Grip 1)
- 21.5mm (Grip 2)

I'm still fairly new to Forums but it could be that the server is too busy to resize your photos. Are they large?

Also, I think there's a way to put them into your Profile Album and link them to your post...hoping it works!

Create a photobucket acct (free) and upload photos to it. Then copy and paste the HTML link here

Did my first build night, couple of hours, taking my time with everything, made the noob mistake of starting with the wrong frame side, so I had undo some parts. I'm not loctiting till the end, so was lucky I didn't.

Just have a quick q about the MKS servo's into the frames, are the holes supposed to be slightly out of alignment? I had to 'walk' the servo's into the frame...

mks servos in the cyclic slots you def should only be using the center hole, however mks will fit the tail mount just fine with 4 bolts. The cyclics only need the center mounting hole, they will not flex or come out. If you use all the corner holes for cyclic with mks ds95 all you are doing is stressing the servo case and servo mounting plates (not good!)

I used the servo adaptors that came with the kit the ones with only the center hole.

Like Scott said the tail servo fits fine.

See pic

lol I have built over 5 helis and I did the same thing every heli Ive had the frame sides are interchangeable but hey you learn more from mistakes right? got so more flights on mine this morning and I just cant get over how quiet this thing is it almost sounds like a little sissy heli until you punch the collective. my tail is hunting a little back and forth but I think the links may just need to broken in. I did not see the link reamer in my kit do you guys know what bag its in i seem to recall someone asking this before but cant remeber where they said it was. I am about to post my finished build pics everything went great with the exeception of the aluminum pulleys the only thing I want to change is my wiring I am ocd on wiring and it does not look horrible I know I can do better. anyway guys happy flying

link reamer is no longer an included item. Ignore the inclucded part on the misinstructions HA! Seriously folks it is not included anymore!

However you will find about 120 bucks worth of flybar head parts and spacers etc that you can't use. Funny huh!

Question Nice!

Nice build Keith! Any chance you'll be uploading a flight vid on YouTube?

Question: Can anyone chime in on whether they feel a "difference" in flight (Sport & 3D/Smack) between the Metal Servo Frames versus' the plastic ones?

I have the 3rd CNC Metal Frame and I'm curious if it'd be worth upgrading to Metal Servo Frames.
