problems bearing blocks/ servo frames?? Pics added..
So, I'm building a mini p and the threaded metal inserts in the servo frames look terrible. Most of them are half covered with plastic from molding, some of them seem like they are set at various depths, and the inside of the threads are rough and burred. Tried to build them anyway and I stopped after I had broken off two screw heads. Thinking I just got a couple duds, I ordered up a new set...
Now the new ones just showed up and the inserts on the new ones are no better. Frankly, they look like they have been pounded into the plastic by a monkey with a ball peen hammer. The screws are all rough going in. Some of them stop turning after a few turns. Frustrating to say the least, as my build is on hold again now. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks,

perhaps you can clear the excess plastic out of the metal inserts by running a 1mm drill bit through them carefully.

Tried this but the threads them selves are just very bad quality. I think the only solution is to clean the threads out with the proper size metric tap. I feel like ordering another set would just be a gamble and so far the odds have not favored me.

I didn;t use the ones that came with my kit, I used the CNC ones. Having just looked at them though, I will concurr with your findings. Get a 2mm tap. They are unworkable as supplied.

Well, I agree, even more now that I just snapped a tap off in one of the holes.. There is some serious funk in there. Plastic has poured into it from the back and that plastic is hard to remove. It forces the tap to wander about.

Bad runs of molded parts do happen. It is just the process and probably a batch of bad insert nuts. The problem is msh lacks on QC at times and thus these bad parts were never caught. I don't have a problem with the stock plastic servo mounts because I just won;t use them LOL! All my mini builds have been cnc upper and lower servo blocks and cnc lower 3rd bearing block from the start as I consider them a must have. My stretched protos build is getting the same treatment!

Ok..
You don't need a tap.. A tap is too high of quality. You need a pushrod and a pair of vice grips. Just force that puppy right in there lol. I'm not sure what the trick is. I managed to clean up the holes using a pushrod. The inserts don;t seem to be threaded all the way through so if you get a tap, get a bottoming one.

So this kit needs an upgrade. Or, just keep rolling the dice after ordering, paying for, then waiting for bunk parts? Bummer, this is making me weary. Should I go to the retailer for satisfaction? I hate it when I am forced to upgrade parts.

Just did some checking around and the cnc blocks are proving hard to find. And at $20+ per copy I am falling out off love...looks like this will be going on the back burner for the weekend, thank god for my Logo.

Hmmm
I looked around too. No luck. They, like 6S Motors and Flybarless head shafts go out of stock everywhere.

Same here, I'm on the hunt for the second CNC frame, got one but waiting on second for stretch build. Tried using the plastic frames, they were horrible.

The inserts on mine had a little loose material in them but nothing you couldn't clean out by running a screw through by hand once.

Kit came from helidirect with the first set of bad blocks. And the second bad set I ordered from readyheli. So far I have one "usable" block out of four in two sets from two different shops. And i use the term "usable" very loosely. Even if they send me free replacements, will they be any better? My confidence in replacements is not high at this point..

I'm sure with some patience they will get me sorted out. Again thanks for offering to send me your part. I will surely take you up on it if they can't get me a workable replacement.
