Was hammering my NX4 over the weekend and doing a fast fly-by the engine cut..

AAARRRRRGGGHHHH - had to slow down quickly and auto before it flew past the field..

Came down at the end of the field and luckily only broke a skid pipe - phew!!!!

Turns out the silicon tubing of my clunk line had swollen and fell off the tube on the bung - so no clunk line and my header tank emptied..

The tank in the NX4 is quite easy to get out so was a 20min repair job on spot at the field the next day - all good again!!!! Hooting again the next day...

Unfortunately - 2 flights before I came down inverted backwards in my X5 and instead of levelling out I dumb-thumbed and nosed down into the ground Not nice...

All repaired (minus canopy) by midnight and flying the next day

Was on the 4th flight yesterday and it was having a hard time at idle.

At the end of the 5th flight I noticed drag in the drive train.
sprung clutch, still put it in the air for a 6th flight then tore it apart at home.

The clutch liner was very worn.
Think I got around 180+ flights on that clutch and liner, it survived 3 crashes.
Mighty good I'd say.

I maidened my NX4 this Wednesday. It went really well at first, managed to get the engine running well even though I'm total nitro noob. I was really surprised how well it flies. It felt like flying much bigger heli than it actually is for some reason.

Anyway, first thing I did on my forth tank was flipping it inverted, not realizing I'm in normal mode. Guess how that went . The damage was minor, have to wait for parts till next weekend though. First thing I do before remaiden is wiping out the normal mode in the radio , I'm going to spool it up using delayed throttle between flight modes.

Some photos from the maiden:

I maidened, crashed, rebuilt and successfully maidened. At 1.5 turns out this thing really gets greasy! One or two more flights and I'm gonna start to lean it out. Are most people running at about one turn out?

Nice set up.....I forgot to add I'll be using a SwitchGlo Pro.

Nice setup.

I'm really excited about this little heli. I've wanted one since they came out. I haven't had a nitro heli for over a year and I'm itching to smell nitro in the morning

Me too!

I am about to start tearing mine down to check it over. I got it used.

Consider a metal fan upgrade to add to your list. Mine came with one from the previous owner

Default What Did You Do With Your NX4 Today??

Maidened mine today. This thing is seriously fun. I burned two tanks before it got to windy 20+ mph. I don't think I could have bought a better first nitro.

Here's my set up.

IKON flybarless unit, setup with governor

- OS .37 engine

- Edge 423mm main blades

- KBDD tail blades

- Hatori pipe (Bobby Watts Special)

- Upgraded Red Gaui fan

- Align Governor Sensor

- Pushglow

- Gryphon GVR 5010 voltage regulator with switch you can operate without removing the canopy

- Align ds 515m servos on cyclic and throttle

- Align ds 525m servo on rudder

- Header tank

- Upgraded TREX 600 pitch slider

- Align fuel filter

- Nano-Tech 1500mah lipo

Default What Did You Do With Your NX4 Today??

Burned two tanks this morning,
Successfully made it through my first hydrolock situation, oh and did my first flips and rolls that weren't on the sim. Finally got past my mental block. It was a good morning.

Started stripping my new to me NX4 down yesterday evening. I started with the tail section. Every bearing in the tail is caked with Texas sand. I don't have spares for these bearings because I have never needed them.
I took the sheilds off the bearings and blasted them out with automotive brake cleaner. They are almost like new after being cleaned and greased. The TT bearing was completely seized but I had a spare for that one.

How do you get sand inside the boom anyway...lol. Let the fun begin
