Default Mini Protos with Xnova motor

I am considering Xnova motor for my Mini, Here is correct model info,
http://www.helidirect.com/xnova-2618...mm-p-38056.hdx

In description it states minor frame modifications required.
Wondering if anyone has tried yet and what "Mods" are required

Hi.
I have this motor in my mini.
U need to do a 5minute job on the left and right side frame,
the erea where the motor mount is, the motor is wider in diameter and you need to make a little more space.
something like this.

Thank you, thats what I was afraid of, Not sure if I want to risk the side frame strength.
How is that motor working?
Power, flight time, motor temp, etc
Also could not find timing/pwm specs

about the frame,, na any problem,, really easy and small things to do.
no any worry about frame strenght there,, i had some hardcore crashes and it did not break there but on other places.

power is extreem,, maybe 2 times more then stock.
also gets less hot.

however dont expect long flight times when push it hard,, this motor pulls anything u throw on it.
but be ready to get not more then 2.30 minutes when fly it hard but with 5 times more fun then the stock motor.

concusion,
its a hardcore motor,, and its sold as this,, but its hungry and need good batteries.

here a video in a gaui X3,, which is a much heavier heli then the mini.
Xnova-XTS-2618-1860KV-10P Handwoundet. in Gaui X3.Wicharid Ridbamrung (1 min 56 sec)

That's weird...
The Xnova and scorp are the same price in Europe : 70€
But in the US, the scorp is 80$, the Xnova 93$.
Sounds like they paid the VAT for the Xnova motors, since they are based in EU.

Hmm looks pretty nice in comparaison to the scorp indeed.
Not sure if the mini P can handle that much power very well though. I've had trouble in the past keeping the belt on the pinion with the scorpion on 6S.
I'll probably run a 16t pinion and pretty crazy headspeeds to match to prevent that.

What size bullets does it come with ? 3.5 or 4mm ?

I run a scorpion 2520 1360kv motor on 6s and it is super powerful and unboggable

chuck on a 17 tooth pinion and run 65% flat throttle curve governed and the scorpion motor just keeps pulling no problems. Higher tooth pinion stops the belt from slipping on hard moves.

no frame mods required

just need to get the MSH41115 MSH Protos Mini Long Motor Shaft Hardened installed on the motor and your good to go

with xnova just a minor filing is needed on frame but the good thing is that the motor come with the right shaft for mini

You don't actually need to use a mini prôtos shaft for the scorpion, you can just use the stock 4mm shaft and get a 16 or 17t pinion for the warp, works fine for me.

I did it back when lynx hadn't released their pinions yet so it was pretty much the only solution for a reliable pinion.

I am using a new style 14T pinion and it will lock during flight. Heli performs fine and the pinion isn't slipping or anything, but the OWB is locked so I can't autorotate. It locks every flight and i'll break it loose once I get home and the machine has cooled down so that I can work on it easier.

If I run low headspeeds (2800rpm or less) it doesn't lock, but anything beyond that and it will.
