I'm waiting for parts..........I took the head/mainshaft out in anticipation of balancing it on a dubro tru spin balancer. As I was taking off the elevator ball/anti rotation pin it sheared off in the swash. I was able to get the broken stud out with heat but didn't have the parts to keep going.

I used red locktite for the build, I have had trouble with the collar loosening on the main shaft that we all talk about and when trying to get rid of it I rounded a setscrew and had to put the heat to that also......

Any opinions on whether I should I stick with the red and assume everything is going to take heat or will blue be enough?

I use nothing but blue. Having to use heat evertime i worked on my heli would be a drag. Blue is more than eficient. Put a little on the threads then spin the bolt so the loctite is completely on the threads. Make sure it's not dripping off. Bob is building a compass?

John, yes I'm building a 6HV. I holed my first piston one week after the MAFF. The new heli will be ready by the end of the weekend.

Regarding locktight, I just use blue. It has always been strong enough. If you want to try a different main shaft locking collar, the Logo 10mm is a nice one. It has three grub screws. I used it this year and all of last year. It holds very nicely.

Ok, I will have to check that out, Thanks Bob. So whats the deal with your X50, are you going to get rid of it, or is there a chance you may come back to it at some point.............

No I'm not selling it. I don't have any plans to fly it again this season. Maybe next year but I doubt it.

I was waiting for engine crankshaft holder for proper tightening of the clutch fan... I got some weird noises 2 weeks ago. Turned out that fan was a little loose on the engine shaft (however weird that sounds). Now i did testing spool and sound was good so i guess tomorrow i might get some flight time if weather is good...

ive had one good flying x50 and one bastard child. the belt kit i wrecked at mid america, i took the engine out and slapped in the TT. The TT kit engine was being a bastard. so i put the good motor from the belt in the TT and now one heli is good. the belt kit keeps breaking the stock tail case 2 in a row on 2 flights. plus the engine got sent in to YS and returned as new but cant keep it from leaning out at hover. needles cant get any more rich or the damn thing wont start lol at least one is flying though

I got my X50 back together, when I put the order in I ordered just about one of everything to get an inventory of parts going. Got 3 sets of booms/T tubes since Tower finally has the aluminum ones off of backorder.

Now I just need the heat to break a little, I has been so darn hot here I don't feel like doing anything outside. I am finishing my basement and putting in a bathroom at the same time so that is my excuse for not being outside till the temps fall a little.

The X50 is sitting here getting dusty............not good.

I know what you mean with the heat. It was 95*F out today. Even if I had the day off, I'm pretty sure I woudn't have been out in the sun flying. A slight cool-down starts tomorrow.
