I have a feeling that it's right all right... It's just not as nice as we'd hoped it would be...

I believe that the latest from Skookum is that the delivery for the Black 720 is at least a month away I think the Germans may be getting a bit ahead of the game.

So about $740.00 for we U.S. folks. Should be interesting to see how many people think this unit is as great as SK seems to think it is.

Don't forget that includes VAT over here... and things are always a bit more expensive.

Probably looking at $600 or so over your side of the pond before tax.

Still, too expensive in my opinion. Combine it with a skookum black and you're at 1049 euros... and that's before you've even got a heli to put it in.

I'm unlikely to get one at that price I have to say, no matter how good it is. I think I'll probably start exploring other options for my current needs...

Hopefully, I'd try it at a bit cheaper and if it didn't work then I'd move it on to my Protos or something. But at well over a grand and no guarantee that it would even work on my .50, they've priced themselves WAY out of consideration.
Well done again, Skookum!

This is exactly why I got a Helicommand unit, tired of waiting and no definte word from skookum.

I am in no hurry ..
If its ready , tested and out of beta by spring I am in.
If not I see a V-Bar or HC3SX in my Diabolo, it really doesn't matter.

Which unit is cheaper?

DJI (the one that works properly) $2500, nope, Align, $800... nope.

GPS is expensive, sure it will get cheaper, but it will be a few years.

I meant I'd possibly try it if it were a bit cheaper, sorry for the confusion.
I wouldn't feel so bad dropping it on the Protos if it fails to work on the nitro, but not at a grand investment.
I have no doubt that in a few years time we'll have 1 meter decks, ceilings and walls that work very well for half the price.
I really do like the feature set of the Skookum devices but for my chosen application they possibly won't work.
I've always wanted a Skookum but have always shied away as IMHO they appear too finicky.

How well does the Helicommand GPS unit work?

Was it worth the $1,590 price tag?

Or have you just got a Helicommand without a GPS unit?

As an aside, is there a way of converting Vbar vibes so I have an idea if it'll work on my heli or not?
Easy get a hc3sx the self level works great even on nitros plenty of gasses and nitro guys using them on the helicommand forums, they handle the vibes the skookum experts say you shouldn't be flying with. You hardly need a GPS unless your doing FPV or photoship stuff. Price on the GPS seems up there no surprise really was going to be a $800-1000 with new black and GPS either way. They don't spend money on R&D to give the units away. Should be we'll priced if the GPS and Harddeck work as planned.

This technology is new to 3D helicopters and I’m sure in a few years that there will be many on the market at $200 or less. I remember when flybarless controllers first came out – they were very expensive, not very good, and only a couple of manufacturers. GPS will go the same way.

I fly the APM2 with airplanes and multi-rotor and it has excellent GPS with many more features than Skookum. It’s too slow for 3D and not a flybarless controller but it’s only $200 and you don’t have to pay extra for the advanced PC software.

Those GPS modules are in the $35 to $75 range so Skookum is really charging most of that money for firmware. That’s like the iPhome 5 – I only costs $8.00 for the hardware and you are really paying for the firmware.

For an iPhone, you are paying at least half the money for the apple logo on the back.
