Blade 500X ESC

One day I plugged in the battery and a little cloud of smoke erupted from under the canopy.

There now was no response from the Heli and I think it just wouldn't stop beeping.

The photo attached shows the burnt component in the middle of the image. Looks like it has a dot on it but that is actually a melted blister in the surface.

The question is "Does anyone know what that component is?" ane "If you do, do you have any suggestion as to where I can get a replacement?"

The esc has a 1 year warranty... if you're in that period, I'd call HH. I'm not sure anyone actually fixes these, they're pretty much disposable, like most electronics these days.

If you decide to upgrade to an aftermarket esc, stay away from the Edge Lite 75... it's not up to the task. The BEC isn't strong enough and I burnt my Lite 75 up... a fet burned. You'll probably want a Talon 90 at minimum, or one of the nicer escs... yge or whatever...

You should check out ZTW Gecko 85A ESC as well, I put one on my 3D and it works great, has govenor feature also.

Just to recommend an excellent company. I sent the same message to Horizon Hobby to try and find out the component that had burned. Within 10 days I received a response that they were just going to send me a new one.

And they did!! I just go it today. The whole entire $80 ESC for the Blade 500X

I am impressed with Horizon Hobby! Wow!

+1 that's what I did as well....sent the old one in and got a new one for free, I had already installed ZTW but now I have a spare!! Horizon Hobby does rock!!
