Therein lies the rub. I can't afford to buy the number of helis most of you typically buy, so my next heli will leave me with a 450, a 600N, and whatever the new heli is. If the winds are above 10 mph, I ground the 450. If I don't want to deal with the mess, I don't fly the 600N (my feeling is that if I can't get at least 3 flights, the flight time doesn't justify the cleanup time). So, local parts availability is very important to me.

Oh, i understand you perfectly. Iam still debating that myself for a 550 vs Logo 400 vs Trex500. Being in canada our parts take 2-3weeks for parts from the states so its a bigger part of the equation. I guess iam so use to waiting so long i wouldnt even consider having to wait 1-2 days

The 550 looks interesting . I wonder how hard on 6s is going to be on it , since I thought my Hurricane 550 was hard on 6s with just 500 mm blades. I'd like to get into the 550 but I think I might pass and get a nitro for now as The upfront cost of batteries for that size is to much for me at this moment . Maybe next year .
For me I don't mind ordering from online stores, I do 99% of shopping online and I generally get it in 2 days. The only thing that effects my choice is that currently parts for it , I think, is only mainly available at helidirect, and while helidirect is an awesome store. I tend to like going to Readyheli, if I also need Gaui parts, or Allerc.com and as already stated the align is in almost every store giving me freedom to buy from whereever I need , so I can get it all in one order. Yea I know it's only a small thing, I just hate having to pay for shipping twice.

Right now there are almost a dozen shops in USA that carry Outrage helicopters and parts. Once our Outrage 550 and 50N is out this month and next there will be many shops that will carry our parts. We aim to have most parts available to everyshop like thunder tiger and Align next year.

The closest shop I have to me is an hour away. I can drive it necessary, but even then there isn't any guarantee that everything I need is in stock. I rely primarily on online purchasing. If the crash was bad, I pony up the extra $ and just express it. 1 day
Usually $25 bucks, but that is chump change when the repair costs are 300+ If you buy at a hobby shop you have to spend the Gas to drive to it and pay the TAXes. Most of that $25 overnight fee is made up for right there. I would frequent a LHS more often if one was close....so I am not arguing that point (really not arguing any point), just suggesting that Overnight Shipping is an option and is justifiable by the savings of Gas and Tax money.

An interesting debate.
I would hope that in many ways Outrage is not the next Align and in other ways it is. As an example I find Outrage to me much more accessible than Align, even though I run TrexTuning my links with Align are pretty poor, in fact Align themselves barely acknowledge that my site exists (except when I write a bad review of an Align product and I get an email). Align find it difficult to be a western orientated company with little or no presence themselves in the western communities, instead relying on the local distributor, who often also has communications issues with them. They are far more active in the asian community. Align also find it very hard to admit a mistake or problem of any kind, even when it is glaringly obvious.....such as the phasing issues on the original T-Rex 600 swashplate and washout which was a mile out, yet according to Align it was fine, then for some reason they released (count them) three new versions of the swashplate and two versions of the washout before actually getting the phasing right. Why was that then when there wasn't a problem? However, where Align do get it right is with the marketing and they are very well assisted in doing this by various western websites including my own. They also produce good looking heli's with nice canopies which is such a big thing, never underestimate how far looks can carry an average product. Lastly they have very good pricing from chinese manufacture. Outrage is more than capable of producing good looking heli's at a great price. However, I find Charley's designs to be superior, with much better thought placed on the accuracy and balance of the model. Which directly equates to a machine that performs far better in the air. So this just leaves marketing and it's very hard to break Align's strangle hold in this area. However, as the Outrage machines come out and start being seen and flown at local fields I believe there will be a tide change. Coupled to which Outrage needs good support from communities such as HeliFreak and my own Outrage-Tuning to drive the interest forward and produce the knowledge base it needs to be successful and attract people away from the old faithful Align machines that everybody knows how to build and setup. Finally we come to customer service, and here is where I think Outrage have the trump card, you really can't beat the service Outrage are currently providing. So yes Outrage could be the next Align but personally I'm hoping it's far more than that and that's why I got involved, I'd love to see a real competitor for Align, competition breeds better products and better service, which we can all benefit from. Sorry for the 'War and Peace'.....seems I had a lot to say |

Yea I've been surprised by the customer service I've seen from Outrage. I've even heard that MSH was doing similar service for there customers. Which makes me wonder if this is a new way that young companies are starting to follow , and will we continue to see this kind of support even after they become as big as corporations like Align ? I hope so as the great support from outrage was the only reason I decided to step into something new.
The more I fly the G5 the more I realize that it's design is superior to what Align currently has to offer, although I still like the simplicity of the Align models to as it was my first real kit I completly built with no problems. While the G5 , I'm still getting everything to be just right. . O h well to me I still fly the rex 450 alongside the G5 as they both have flight characteristics that I like.

its the attention to detail i love, i recently built my early prototype 550 and it was very nearly perfect. no manual, just used the various pictures available here and outrage tuning.
i have seen models that have been in production for many years have bigger faults than the model i built and those faults have now been addressed in just a few weeks. well done Charley and the rest of the boys at outrage in the USA I took a big risk jumping teams but im 100% confident they have the knowledge and facilities to dominate the market with a range of helis to suit everybody. Not one Align heli has EVER impressed me be it shoddy quality, design, or undeserved hype.
I dont bash those that enjoy them and love to help regardless of what brand. I dont want ya'll to be like Align EVER. Its the poeple that started Outrage and brought on board that truely impresses me and I am sure their are even more quality folks Charley surrounds his company with behind the scenes. Bergen has my respect EastCoast Vario has my respect...MRC, MA Ya'll get your play book from them. Not Align! I plan to buy a outrage heli to see whats up and experience myself. Dont ya'll try to sneak Align flavor into my Outrage koolaid! |

Good customer service from Outrage? HA! Why, I've been sending telepathic messages to Charley et al for months now in an attempt to get that tasty new 550 in my sweaty paws, but they just keep ignoring me. Whatsa brutha gotta do to get a little attention eh?
Osmosis didn't work either. I'll be hitting up Helga the Psychic Palm Reader next, might make some headway....

It's tasty indeed.... I saw the Outrage 550 feast spread out on a table at IRCHA, but I didn't get to partake, only touched.

Jamesduck...there were some pictures taken this weekend by Charles Anderson of IRCHA...here is the link to that thread...
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...ghlight=ihobby The 200 is just so damn cute...I am not sure if anyone out there will be able to resist the look of it...it is a tiny version of the G5...very cool looking! we are still hoping to have it available to be stashed in your Christmas Stockings...there is a new digital JR micro servo that is coming out (maybe already out, cant remember the part number) that will fit perfect into the 200...as will many servos as Charley has designed the frame with adjustable servo mounts...to allow the use of many different size servos in the HS-45 size realm of servo's... The Nitro 50 frame was there...but not a complete mock up of the heli...our Factory Pilots should have the prototypes in their hands within a month...we are also still shooting for Christmas delivery of the Nitro 50 also...as many of the 550 parts will be incorporated into the Nitro 50... Charley and all of us at Outrage RC are trying hard to keep our word of debuting 4 new helicopters this year...it will be close...but still do'able...BUT...we will not release them if there are any issues...we would rather wait a few weeks and get them right...than release too early and have our customers beta testing for us! |
