A little home tinkering over a winter 2 years ago.....

A modified CNCEffects 600 frame stretched outto handle 1000mm SAB ASYM blades, powered by a Scorpion 5020 - 450

Originally powered by 12S/5000 long packs it was managing 20+ minute flights, also to be capable of heavy lift.

1000E Lifting test (1 min 25 sec)

Just out of curiosity I wanted to see how far I could take it..
Doubled up on the batteries, and dropped the HS, after 30minutes your finger s tend to fall asleep.

1000E at NEAT fair 2012 (5 min 45 sec)

As I said, if it's designed from the onset to perform a specific task..it isn't too difficult.

VWinRC FPV Flight (11 min 12 sec)

VWinRC 550 FPV 25 Aug 13 (11 min 24 sec)

FPV on 550 (11 min 39 sec)

All on a VWinRC 550...have since added a second 5800mAh battery (now using 2 in parallel) and a set of SpinBlades Asymmetrical blades. Can get well in excess of 18 minutes FPVing. Only thing I do not like about the Naza H is no RTL.

They promised RTL at a later firmware at launch and 90% of the buyers bought it because of that promise. And they lied.

As far as I know You have two choices. Ace One (548826 E12 $) or Align APS (700$).

Bet blades semi-symmetrical!! More even on bottom. I made same mistake ! Symmetrical is same shape top and bottom. :-)

Greatest efficiency is achieved by swinging long blades slowly. A single rotor heli is more efficient than a multirotor heli. Sure a small multi like a blade can fly for 20 minutes but its heavy and fly's slow wwhereas most helis that size are spinning the main rotor super fast because its more fun to fly that way. Any model you build has to be built and spec'd for a specific purpose which determins what is possible with flight time. I build my quadcoptets all custom for flying fast and hard and so I keep them lightweight and I try and use 8 or 9 inch props spinning real fast and my flight times are between 6-7 minutes on a 4S 1800mAh 35C pack .

Also important to remember all manufacturers of multi rotors over exagerrate the flight times since most buyers are new to RC and are not already aquainted with a 5 min flight and have nnot accepted it . there is no new lipi technology at this point
