What brand of Huey is it? There are a number of different brands that made them then as now. Knowing who made yours would help a lot.

The manual and other good information can be found here on Vintage RC Helicopter website. Great source for information on most vintage models!

I am pretty sure the tail gear box is the same as that used on the GMP from that era (Cricket, Competitor, Cobra). And as luck would have it, there is one for sale on ebay right now. See it here.

Please post pics of your rebuild...

I agree that it seems a little steep. It comes down to how quickly you want it.

Or keep watching. Something reasonable will show up.

Thanks for posting the pics!

Did you locate a tail rotor gear box yet? If not I might have a spare.

That machine is looking good, Billy!

You have two optional items: The auto rotation clutch and the tail speed up unit.

As these things fly at a relatively low head speed, the tail performance was not the best. The speed up unit was supposed to improve this (I never used one, but it was supposed to be better).

These are very smooth, very easy to fly, very predictable machines.

What are you going to use for a clutch, by the way?

This looks like the one in the photo. If it is what you need we will figure something out.

That one is even the correct color and has the mounting coupler (that is epoxied into the balsa insert in the top of the tail fin.

There should be a coupler for the piano wire drive, also.
