Head speed suggestions
Hi,
I'm just starting to use the gov and need some advice on head speeds(RPM). I'm in the middle of building a 600(maiden still a couple of weeks away) and want to use gov mode but thought I would try it out on a cheaper and easier to fix smaller heli. Looking around the forum I found speeds anywhere from 2932-4040 on the low to 3137-4545 on the high. I'm just looking for a good starting point. I'm just a novice flyer. The specifications of my 300x are: scorpion HKII 2208-24 CC Talon 35 bec Lynx one way hub 136t slant gear and 13t pinion Frame stiffener. CF Blades Thanks

If you're not already aware of it, Mr. Mel's headspeed calculator is a good way to make these kinds of estimations. It has an option for the Castle governor.
http://heli.dacsa.net/calcv3/Default.aspx It looks like around 3250 RPM is going to be about the max governed head speed with that setup. Since the Castle governor gives you three slots you might start out with 2900, 3050 & 3200 and see what you like best.
