First crash...
Well, I've been hovering the MX450 around in the backyard and trimming. It seems to be flying pretty well but I can't really do much more than that at home because the backyard isn't so big. Unfortunately, I brought it in the house to tweak a few things and had the main batt plugged in while I worked on re-centering some servos. Like a dumbass, I forgot to hit the throttle hold switch and accidentally nudged the throttle stick.
The motor spun the rotor around and whacked me in the arm with both blades before the whole heli tumbled off the table and onto the carpet. It wasn't going fast enough to even hurt, not even making a whole revolution, but it did get going with enough torque to bend the feathering shaft. Amusingly, the shaft ends were bent the exact same amount and I really didn't notice until later. In fact, after checking for damage and finding none I took it back out side and ran another pack through it. I noticed a bit of wobble at low headspeed and checked it out. That's when I found the damage. (Yes, after learning that I'd missed the feathering shaft, I went back over the bird with a more critical eye and triple-checked for damage again...still none) So, my first "crash" put me out a whopping 7 bucks!
