Update, 1 minute into 2nd flight hello winds! Seconds later I could hear the raindrops hitting the blades, then time for emergency landing! Got into the garage just before the downpour, needless to say all remaining scheduled flights for tonight have been cancelled.

On the last couples of flight after a crash (main blades, spindle, main gear, 2 servo with damage gears) I was experiencing bad vibrations on the tail. Horizontal fin would pivot about 10º CW after only 2 minutes flight.
Main shaft was straight, tail shaft was straight, main gear was wobbling a bit. I had quit a few spare parts, so I decided to change the tail shaft, tail drive gear, main gear (still wobbling a bit). luckily I just received my Du-Bro balancer, so I check balance the complete head and tail. Anyway after all those change I getting anxious not finding the problem. So this morning I did a test flight and every thing came back to normal . Now i just have to figure out what was not right |

I finally flew today, I have been doing just simple hovers nose in and out for weeks (well maybe months). Had it in mind if you can do it on the Sim you can do for real. It was not real pretty but i flew 100 feet up and the length of the football field i was on. What a grand feeling, hands were shaking a bit. Did hit the ground hard on the second pack and broke some things but it was such a good rush.
I cant not wait to get good at this! |

Hey guys I bought a castle bec to put on my 450 3d does anyone have any advise? I also mounted a low voltage warning ( buzzer and voltage reader) right to my frame and ran a balance port extension to it. I like how I can see the voltage while I'm flying. FYI the reason for the bec is my venom batteries get alittle hot after each flight My motor reads 120 degrees on my gun and the esc around 110. Hopefully this will stop the excess heat.

Success at last
Finished the fbl setup today and maidened. I only hovered but it seemed pretty smooth. I wanted to post a video but my wife was out shopping and I couldnt wait any longer, nobody around to hold the camera. I can tell a diferance from the fb version,it is much more stable. Many thanks to the guys that helped me get here.

went to the hobby shop to get a feathering shaft, align fbl head, and some main shafts. I had a hard landing which snapped the screw that holds the washout arm onto the head and i couldnt back the screw out, and the hard landing bent the feathering shaft .
I put the head on but i need to shave 2 and 1/2 mm's off the main shaft so the jesus bolt lines up. Hopefully ill get to fly it tommorow. How tight should the washout arms be? Tight or floppy? |

Had an unstable flight this morning, blaming worn plastic seesaw and trashed tail blades. Replaced tail blades that were quite a bit shorter than new from grass, gravel, and a couple cement encounters. Corrected the seesaw slop with a couple link adjustments and test flew solid again. Crazy how if you have an upgrade part in the bins, the old one tends to not break!

What an amazing bird
I flew mine for the first time today. Made the jump to CP a few weeks ago with a MCPx and finally bout a pack for the 450 that's been on the shelf for 8 months. I was so nervous, but was amazed as soon as she got light on the training gear and lifted off. I couldn't believe how steady and resposnisive she was. Can't wait to pick up a few more packs and really find out what she can do.

Flew 5 packs. A friend of mine who flew at a world class level back in the 90's was with me. He is amazed at the huge advances in electronics, flybarless technology, really high speeds, and how solid tails are..
Remember, when he was flying a tail gyro was still a mechanically spinning object, very old school. What he had me working on the whole evening was smoothness and precision on big moves.. I worked on techniques like doing large, very round loops, and fff slow rolls where the tail boom stays as straight as an arrow, (well, almost anyway).. I still can not do a completely still, no motion hover in a breeze, but he thinks that may just be because of the small size of the 450.. (I think it is just my flying). But it was fun having someone ask me to try things, that are well within my skill range, and point out how I could improve the look of the maneuver.. It would probably be a little easier to fly in this manner if I would set my FBL (cx-3x1000) to one of the less aggressive modes, like F3C, and put the tail in rate mode rather than HH. I didn't want to mess with my settings as I'm really comfortable with how it handles. Maybe if I could change the FBL behavior on the fly with a TX setting, but that's a bit much to ask from a $30 FBL.. A fun day indeed.

Put mine into the dirt at full force.... Canopy is in 50 pieces it was everywhere. Tail boom folded on itself & the other usual suspects. I think the elevator servo may be toast too but I have an extra I replaced on the last crash for good measure. I do have spare gears so will check the old one & replace its gears if it needs it. Otherwise I know it works at least...
So I was flying just near dusk heli was about 150-200 feet out & maybe 50 feet up. I couldn't tell if it was tail in or out so I spun it around & it was all over the place LOL. I thought I almost had it saved but then it rolled & went in canopy first at probably 20 mph. LHS doesn't have the booms in stock argh! & I'm waiting on a new motor for my other 450 clone. So I have no 450's to fly darn it!!! Gonna see tomorrow if another LHS has the parts I need. On the plus side I was using the FRP blades & they grenaded so other damage wasn't as bad as it should have been... Thx Thalios for recommending those for a new guy... Cam |

Flew 4 packs with the the 450. Went to fly the th 450 and the elevator servo won't work. Replaced the servo but also noticed the stock 420 motor is bad. The bearings are shot and the shaft wobbles quite a bit.
Time to order a new motor.
