Aps lite - tx settings ++

Hi ,
just trying again to get my 550 dfc head t.rex working with aps lite. I am using DX7s

I am using the 3 position, flap/gyro switch to get the 3gx, aps and gps modes.
Can anyone tell me what settings I need for each . Having read the manual numerous times, its not so clear. presently have set positionh 0 3gx as 65%
2 aps as 50% and 3 gps at 35%.????
As I dont fly 3d (yet) I am also confused re idle up setting.
If I go into throttle curve it has 3 letters NIH, is the I position idle up, if so I am using the f mode switch which moves the marker from N to and I have the
throttle curve set at 70% all through, as per manual, is this ok.
Finally when flying, does the idle up have to be on all the time???.
Appreciate these must all seem pretty dumb questions, but it would be good if they produced a full idiots guide in good english.
