Default Powerlab 8 questions

I am using a Powerlab8 V2 connected to a Efuel 1200W power supply set at 30 volts.

A couple of weeks ago I turned the powersupply on and got a OCP error and the powerlab would no longer even come on.

Called FMA and then sent me a new powerlab 8 no questions asked. Which was great but Friday night the same thing happened.

I guess I have 2 questions here.

First has anyone else had this issue with the same combination and do I need to get a different powersupply?

Second all I can figure out is both times it happened I had batteries connected to the MPA parallel board when I turned on the powersupply. I can't find anything in the manual that says don't do this but just looking for some answers at this point.

Any thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

This is what I know about that supply. https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...4&postcount=18

Regarding having packs connected to the charger at the time of power up, FMA says it will not harm the charger. But I know that it will damage other brands of chargers. As a best practice, I make sure the packs are disconnected from the charger before powering it up.

Thanks for the response.

I have the newest version of the powersupply with PCF. It actually runs really well on my 2000 watt generator.

I checked the voltage output of the powersupply and it is right on 30V so It really does not seem like the powersupply is the issue.

This just in. For that supply be sure to power up the supply before connecting the charger. This only applies to the eFuel supply.

Default thanks.

I spoke with Howard at FMA on Tuesday and he told me what the issue was. I guess the voltage spikes were causing the problem.

I am switching to a different powersupply. Not worth the risk for me.

Thanks for the info.
