Geez that little thing is pretty! Heli art guys. I hate cluttery junk hanging outside my helis and go to great pains to hide all the components inside. This one, I just might show off! I guess you would have to. Just to get the signal outside the cf body. Wow, nice job Skookum!

The GPS port on the SK720 is designed to be a data buss, so you can chain sensors on it.

the technicalitys have yet to be released. soo skookum can u guys answer the question on what this will do. will it be the same as most gps modules or will it have some advanced skookumoligy??

1) you can know how fast exactly your heli is.

2) a program can be created to:

- not let your heli crash (at least while there is still enough fuel or battery)

- make the heli fly back to where it started if signal is lost

- establish a virtual wall so the heli won't fly towards you or the crowd watching you fly.

- broadcast its location if for some reason you still managed to crash it very far away from you.

- actually limit the flying distance of your heli so you don't crash it too far from you in the first place.

- avoid flying over somebody else's flight box in a fun fly

1 is useless.
2 sounds like you will have to take a PC to the flying field each time to program in all that information. I really don’t want to spend time doing that. I would much rather be flying.
　
So far I really don’t see anything that I would be willing to spend money for.
　
How about AP. Can I program it to fly to specific coordinates, take photos, and fly it back to me. That’s what I really need.

That’s a good point. I don’t recall ever seeing a statement by Skookum about what he is planning. Has anyone seen an official list of the features?

I think those are just possibilities with GPS data. The SK unit will now know where it is relative to the ground in all 3 dimensions. Seems like that opens up a world of possibilities.
