Default Landing gear bolt fitting

I trimmed my bolts down as suggested here, however i now have a problem after doing the bolts up, the front frame spacer that they screw into is seems to be made of cheese. As soon as i got somewhere near tight the thread went. I've zip tied the skids on for now as they probably will fall off in flight.

Anyone else run into this or just a isolated problem?

Mine are cranked... no problems. I actually snapped a bolt off in the bottom rear frame spacer because like a knucklehead, I always overtighten things instead of letting the loctite do its job...

... my remedy? 6HV frame spacer (30mm) with two 1mm washers to get it to 32mm...

Bummer, sorry to hear that. I had no problems with my cut bolts. But I do know its often a hit or miss getting a good cut that doesn't mess up the start of the first thread on the bolt. Considering how soft aluminum is it wouldn't take much for the bolt to cut some threads.

It's not a bad idea to thread on a nut before cutting anything with threads, unscrewing it makes things a bit tidier at the cut.

Is it possible that the bolts still bottomed out? The hole in the spacer is quite deep but only a small part of it has threads.

Jeff, thought of leaving them slightly loose so to speak, but after my mini maiden the other day 1 skid fell out and i had to land on 1 skid Lucky into mud so no damage. I then decide to tighten them up some and bingo, the thread in the spacer went awol align style

Do you have any frame spacers from your 7HV or 6HV laying about?

You can replace with one of those and 2x 1mm washers as I did. I would move one of the good frame spacers to the front landing gear and put the new spacer and washers on a different part of the frame.

They are slightly wider diameter screws, and I think they work a little nicer.
