Default Bag/Carrying Case

Without realizing I posted this in the Scale section, but maybe the question is more appropriate here:

I just finished building a Trex-550E V2 which I will be stretching to 600 size, then fitting into a Century 50 size Airwolf fuselage (which will have retractable landing gear).

Can anyone recommend what size carrying case or bag to protect and transport the heli?
From everything I've read, the Align bags "just" fit each size they're made for.

Thanks in advance.

I had to build a crate to ship my Century Radikal from Portugal to the States.

Lightning power makes case for up to 600/50: http://www.lightningpower.com/category_s/57.htm

They are expensive, but you may be able to find a good Pelican Case on-line. They make cases for rifles and golf clubs.

Hope this helps

Thanks Ted, as I travel the airlines with helis a fair bit, I find those Lightning Power cases look very interesting. Unfortunately they do not give the inner dimensions or pricing.

Currently I use some HD plastic storage box's sold by our local Canadian Tire stores. Most are made by RubberMaid:

I then drill holes in the bottom and sides that allow me to tie down the heli's skids and various stabilizing devices to the box with HD tie wraps.

Motor Rotor,

I had a bit of bad luck with the Lightning Power case for my Trex 600E. The shippers placed heavy boxes on top of the case while shipping. The weight pushed the caster wheels through the bottom of the case. I contacted Lightning Power and they sent out another case. I asked them how they wanted me to ship the other case back and they said keep it for my troubles. I gave it to a friend.
The second case suffered the same fate when moving from the states to Portugal. I just screwed some plywood to the bottom the everything works fine.

If you were planing on putting in a stock 600/.50 heli I'd say give it a try, but if your installing a Airwolf fuse, I'd lean more towards a custom crate.
