Because I'm a bit late to the party...... I'm still having a little trouble getting my head around my SK720 wiring plan. I have gone over the manuals as well as the schematics on the Wlki page which, gave me a better understanding. I do want to use the bus by design to lessen the vibration and not really concerned about the wiring because I'll clean that up with mesh.

I'm going to run a Tango 45-10 / JAZZ 55-10-32 / CC10 BEC
Swash Servos: Hyperion DS20XSMD Coreless Digital
Tail Servo: Futaba S9254
FASST R608HS or R6014HS

What I'm confused about is the use of a BEC on the BUS. Do you add another male plug end the the BEC and connect to the HV/LV sides. However; this is only neccessary if the setup requires different servo voltage for swash and tail servo correct?

Or do I just use a 4.8 battery on the BUS, connect the LV/HV jumper wire to power all the servos? Or wire a BEC to power the BUS +- and use a deans for a higher capacity type battery connection?

Think I have it..... going to wire a Koolflight 5v to the bus for a 3s Lipo, jump the LV/HV rail and run my Hyperion DS20XSMD Coreless swash servos and the Futaba S9254.

It seems ok to me what voltage are all the servo's rated to ? and your not going to use the CC10 BEC now ? is it a nitro heli ?

oh and you prob should make a thread for this instead of a sticky, maybe, i don't know ?

I'm putting this together for my Century Swift NX FBL. The DS20XSMD servos and the S9254 are 4.8v to 6v. Think I'll use my JAZZ 80-6-18 instead of the 55-10-32, either way I'll use a BEC with the ESC for the receiver.

I have to connect the SK720 to a traditional RX (Hitech Optima). The cable kit is suggested in this configuration, where only two connections provides power.Is there any issue on providing power to all the connections (leaving all three cables for all connections)?

There shouldn't be. As far as I know, all the positive and negative pins in the SK share common power rails, so all you're doing is spreading the power path across multiple wires. Electrically, it's very similar to running two batteries in parallel, or two wires from your battery to your receiver.

It is the D and E channel signal wires. If you are not using these channels you can leave this wire off.

Have seen a lot of posts on mounting the SK-720 in the airframe, not many pictures though. Here's my layout on a Trex-450 V2 SE. Not much real estate on a 450, especially since i still need the original reciever unit. I mounted using the full Skookum setup as in the manual, even though it's a small electric. Any comments regarding good or bad points about where i've placed components would be appreciated.

Incidentally, the contraption which the heli is sitting on, is my version of a test pad, let's me test the heli's cyclic and piro while it's running, without it having to leave the ground (or my garage). Had too many bad crashes when it looked ok sitting on the bench, but did something different at the field !!

When my SK-720 (on Trex 450) is connected to the PC and setup program, the cyclic appears to work normally in that if i move the aileron or elevator, then re-centre it, the swash returns quickly to neutral. However when i disconnect from the PC usb, the swash has a really slow return to neutral, like takes about 4 seconds from full elevator or aileron, back to neutral ? Same happens if switch is in normal (0% self level) or 2 (100% self level). Any ideas ?

In using simulators all Winter here are some Real Flight variant models I conjured up. Real Flight has AFS (automatic flight stabilization) gyros that behave similarly to the accelerometers in the SK-720.

See the description in the model for the list of parameters.

There are currently two files attached:

1. Dominion 3D 90 - FBL_Beginners_v3-3_AV.zip
Version 3-3:
- Normal mode is setup with low rates and Expo. Great for hovering and orientation practice.
-Swapped out Ch.5 2 pos switch from Tail Gyro control to Self Leveling Upright control
-Ch.5 switch now allows you to turn on and off Self Leveling with a flip of a switch. Allows you to use the SL as a bailout when gain is set high.
- 2 Pos. Channel 5 Up=Self Leveling Upright ON
Dn= Self Leveling Upright OFF
- Ch.6 Knob adjusts the Self Leveling gain on the fly.
(Hi)100<=Left Right=>0(off)
-Expo and lower rates on Heli when in Normal and Stunt mode 1.

-V3.3 Fixes the Knob function. Was not working. Also cleaned up the Software Radio channels in the Edit model menu.
-This is the last and final version update (Yes, I'm a perfectionist). If there are any other issues, please PM me.
-If you'd like to change the Expos, and Rates, just go to the channel in the Software Radio section of the models editor, and change the values there. You should only be concerned with three channels...

Channel 1 = aileron
Channel 2 = elevator
Channel 4 = rudder

I've also re-labeled the throttle and pitch curves under channel 3 and channel 6 respectively. Feel free to change the points to suit your flying style. If there are not enough points, use the "resample" box to add more. Goodluck! Oh, and there is more to come.....

3. FBL_MD500E_v1-1_AV.zip
Version 1-1:
- Added cyclic gyros to simulate a Flybarless controller
-Now has no more tendency to pitch upwards in FF.
-Also has Upright Self Leveling via Ch.5
Ch.5 Self Leveling: UP = ON; Down = OFF
-Channel 6 Knob controls the gain of the Self Leveling.
-Had to increase overall Pitch range of Collective and Cyclic to accomodate the Gyro's range of compensation. Because of this you can invert this heli (I know it's not scale, but it's how the algorithms in the Gyros require minimum deg of pitch).
-Make sure you compare this to the Real Flight non-FBL version to feel the difference in flight control dynamics.

I tried to match the SK-720 advance options (parameters) to the list of gyro adjustments in Real Flight. Here is what I came up with so far:

Rotational Acceleration (Deg/Sec^2).................. Bell Gains (Deg/Sec^2)
Heading Hold Gain........................................... Hiller Gain

AFS Gyro Master Gain.................................. Self Leveling
Heading Hold Mix.......................................... Hiller Decay?

The values are not 1 to 1, but the functions appear to work similarly.

Question: What are the pinouts for the LCD programmer cable...

1 > 2 = data
2 > 1 = data
3 > 3 = 5v (This pin can also be signified by a letter)
4 > 4 = gnd

Pin numbers are molded into the plastic female connector housing.

I'm busy building a 90 (my first nitro) and I'm a bit confused by what I electronics I need if I go for an SK720. From reading on this thread and the Skookum Wiki I get the impression I won't need a regulator? I intend running 6V cyclics and 5v for tail and throttle. If I power this with a 2S LiPo will it work?

I am using a DX7 Tx, so want to run satellites too.
