So is the OS 15HZ reliable or not?
I'm about to buy a T-Rex 700 Gasser with the OS 15HZ. The heli and the engine are brand new.
But I've found a few threads of problemms with this engine. Should I buy it or should I buy a zenoah 26 and convert my T-Rex 600 to gasser? The T-Rex 700 is ready to fly, my 600 would take a few months until I get it ready and I'll depend of another person to help me on that. I really can't believe OS have a such problematic engine! |

It seems to be giving a lot of people issues. I'm in the same boat debating either the gt15hz or a tried and trusted zenoah.
The deciding factor will be disk loading. Btw I have a hwc trex 600 conversion NIB for sale, it uses the same clutch and gear ratio as their 700 conversion... If you decide against the gt15hz. I believe a trex 600 platform, with a 29cc motor stretched to a 700 is the ticket right now. But everyone will have their own opinion, I had a helibug puh 700 conversion, but it felt way to heavy for my taste.

I certainly would not buy that engine, very fragile and OS is still blaming consumers for the problems

So the new piston wouldn't solve the problemms?

Here's the reality of the situation, we don't know total sales and failure rates. I know carey has two running with no issues, both new and old piston design. But, there seems to be more people on the forum that are having issues than those that aren't.
It may just be a much harder engine to tune or people are expecting too much out of it.

I fly very often. I was considering gasser. Finally I decided to postpone gasser project.
I still follow gasser threads... Cheap fuel is what I need. Lipos for 600-700-800 are still to expensive. I just do not want to invest in technology I do not trust yet. It is highly subjective. I just share my impressions NOT knowledge. |

The gt15hz is said to be underpowered in a 700. Supposedly it's much better in a 600 size airframe.

I think the issue is that people lean the engine trying to get the same power as a 90 sized nitro, which will never happen.

Its only a 15cc motor.. Its never going to have the same power as a .90 (15cc) nitro no matter what folks do to it. Its marketed as a drop in replacement for a 90 nitro but of course its giong to be underpowered by comarison - the Zenoahs are larger but more competitive to a .90 nitro in power with the extra 10-15cc displacement.
The 15HZ may come into its own when they come out with the 600 edition that will shoehorn into a lighter .50 / 600 size airframe.
