New mild V2 brushless motor........
I finally got around to putting a V2 version of the upcoming Astroid Design's mild motor in a new nano I just bought. The kit also comes with a flashed MX-3A ESC which is suppose to be faster switching then the XP3A along with the typical servo spaces and associated wiring. The new ESC makes soldering the power leads and motor leads a lot easier which is nice.
The new motor is comparable to the first version in head speed but has a lot more torque. It is definitely an outstanding upgrade to it's predecessor. The new motor has a single strand winding and larger magnets. The V2 motor weighs 3.50 grams compared to the 3 grams of the earlier model. The added weight is not noticeable due to the increased torque. The newer motor is also a bit bigger in diameter, 13.85mm compared to the 13.15 mm of the older one. A bit of trimming is needed to the front post and front servo spacer to clear the can. I also ran a 125mm solid tail boom, using a MH swash and am waiting for a Lynx main shaft an a couple of Lynx 42 mm props to show up from Tmkarc1hobby so I can complete the package. I'm also waiting for a replacement Lynx main gear to try out. I am getting sick and tired of going though Blade main gears that are out of round. Right now the heli, ready to fly but no battery, weighs 26.16 grams. All in all, this new motor/ESC will be a good inside flyer with all the torque you could ever need. A very nice setup IMHO.

Looks like the mild V2 is an equivalent to the wild V1?
Your Nano is almost 6 grams lighter than mine with the pjaq kit (31,78grams). How does it come? |

I don't understand your other question. The nano I showed has everything stock except the brushless kit, MH swash and 125mm solid boom with upgraded tail motor wiring.

I had the option to jump on this when he was still testing, but I missed out. Glad to see the review. My mild kit is fast and plenty capable, but it still does bog if you thrash on it

I have the pjaq BL kit installed, an X-treme swash and the X-treme blade grips and head.
My Nano weighs 6 grams more than yours. 1 or even 2 grams would be okay but 6 grams is strange... |

The weight I have shown is without a battery.
Scale with new batteries, calibrated and no battery. Here is the weight ready to fly with an Oversky 200 mAh battery.

Actually that is the way WOW hobbies use to attach the convertor to the ESC back when we first started converting the mCPX's. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=376995 There was a problem with the pads pulling up and causing problems but it might not be such an issue it the posts go though the boards and then are soldered.

I used to build guitar amps as a former hobby. Why does your layout remind me of this? |
