Bk's in 5.5?
Has anyone put bk's in their 5.5? My atom is showing up today! It has align servos right now, but I'm thinking once I drop a big scorpion in there, it might benefit from some better servos. I want this thing to be absolutely nuts. At the same time, I don't want it to get too heavy. Im sure those bk's would require a good external bec.
I'm also curious if there's any other options for canopies. It would be awesome if I could find one more like the 6hvu that comes up just below the blade grips. The 6hvu canopy is probably just way to big, even though its on the 550u. The 5.5 will run 515's on it so I guess the 6hvu canopy is always a possibility. |

I have MKS servos on my 5.5. Fusuno has 5.5 canopies which are larger than stock. The advantage to this canopy is you have more space to position your lipo to get perfec CoG. The stretch will obviously be biased towards the tail compared to stock so I tend to place the lipos further forward. The 6HV canopy should fit well... you just need to reposition the canopy mounts.
On my 5.5 I am using Gryphon BEC... just like the on on your 7HV... I think it is overkill but it works great Looking forward to your review/feedback of the 5.5. Among my bigger helis, it is the one that flies differently... very fast and agile and can easily be thrown around like my 450Xs except it is unboggable.

Just picked it up! Everything looks good. Just like a mini 6hv. It came with a 5.5 canopy but its had a hard life. It will work for now. The description you gave is exactly what I've been wanting. Something big enough to see but can really get thrown around like a smaller heli. I think I'm gonna love it! It's gonna be a late night, but I think I'll have it flying by tomorrow. It came with rt 515's so disk loading will be nice and light. I think this will be the heli that allows me to take the next step into my 3d skills. I won't be so worried about plowing it in.
