NeXt or Heli-x
Hello all,
I am looking for a simulator for my oldish iMac and I have narrowed it down to these two. I will use it, along with my mcpx, to train for a bigger heli. Also, the computer can't even run Aerofly 7... What are your opinions on these two? Also, could anyone recommend a USB contoller that will work with the Mac? Thank you in advance

NeXt or Heli-x
NeXt is great and seems harder/more realistic to fly. I just searched on eBay for a USB cable and it worked no problem

Try before you buy
I think both have a free trial version that you can test (for sure Heli-X has). Afaik you can even use both with the same cable. I wouldn't buy any just from hear-say, especially on simulators that have their own fan community each. Each will say their sim is the best. Just check the other threads here and you know wha tI mean . Btw, I would always chose Heli-X (the new V5) over any other because of available models, realistic physics and various training modes .
But in the end depends on what YOU look for and value most personally regarding features, system compatibility, realism, models available, sceneries, graphics, physics, training modes, support, multiplayer, FPV etc. etc... Happy sim'ing!

That's the Dynam 6CH USB? Yes, that should work with Heli-X.
I use a similar one from HK if shipping to your place doesn't add too much - also in mode 1, or just an adapter cable only. Usually I think anything for FMS should work with Heli-X too. Phoenix dongles definately don't work.

Have both, but like neXt much better. Having said that, I found Heli-X great in the beginning for learning slow piro hovers using the hover trainer. You can set up neXt to learn slow piro hovers by using rudder trim, but the hover zone setup in Heli-X is really nice to have.

Because I use Amazon Prime, I have found another controller because the seller that does Prime on the other controller is sold out. Will this controller work with my Mac and the Heli-x demo? (Of course, I will not use the FMS dvd/cd that comes with it...)

NeXt or Heli-x
I have a three year old mac and I can max out the settings on next and it still runs fine.
Not tried heli x in ages but it's what I learnt to hover with.

NeXt or Heli-x
John, I too have an early 2006 iMac and it runs Heli-X 4.2 just fine, but is struggling a little with Heli-X 5.

What do you fly - IRL. Do you have a 6ch (or better transmitter)? Maybe a Turnigy9XR and an all in 1 USB from HK may suit you better (add a DSMX module and you can fly any blade micro BNF as well as your sim). I or the OpenTX forum can help you program the TX. Turnigy9XR - $50.22 - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...o_Module_.html USB Simulator Cable All in One - $8.99 - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ll_in_One.html ($59.21 - total less shipping) DSMX/DSM2Transmitter Module - $29.99 - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...mpatible_.html ($89.20 - total less shipping) This way you have a sim setup and an 8ch transmitter that will outdo a DX8 for under $100. (Just programming help may be required, but that is HF is for ) Shipping my be longer than Amazon, but RC helis is not a hobby for the impatient (or those not willing to learn).
