Default Does it fly like a 700

Does it have the same agility of the 700 or is it a bit mor docile than the 700?

Is is Heli capable of hard smack?

There are Trekker 3D videos on all four pages of this 800 forum......

This is the closest I could find. I must say he is flying great but it's mild, it's not smack.

Oh ok, could you buy a trekker, build it, produce a video, and show your version of "hard smack"

The Align website says the Trekker was designed and built for the Commercial Video Recording industry. Perhaps you should stick with the 700DFC which was built for 3D.

Thanks heligriff, that's kind of thing I was getting at. When I was speaking with the Align distributor that's what he was telling me. He said it was more for scale and filming. I was curious if any hard 3D'er were feeling different about it.

It's often hard to ignore the riff raff around here lately. So many people take things so personally and emotionally. I thought it was a simple question. Things have gotten really out of hand on heli freak in the past few years. It's quite sad to see the opposite of "Fun, Learning, Friendship and Mutual Respect".

I didn't see any videos of Bert or Alan beating the crap out of this thing so I did have a legitimate question. Since the Goblin 770 is coming out and it's quite the sick machine I was curious how the Trex 800 stacked up. Since I will also be writing about these things I think it's best I ask people with experience as opposed to assuming.

Thanks for your help.

Wow... that is one beast of a heli. You can almost feel the weight of it when they throw it around. Like the marketing says, it is made for stability not agility, and it shows in the vids. Still, it seems to have the power to plod through the moves, just not that quick springiness that you see in a Goblin or such.

Stock parts come with Align kit. Goblin comes with nothing. Put smack electronics in that 800 and that thing will be a blur.

I agree. It's sounds like the 700 DFC HV would fit your needs better. And it's cheaper too

It would be interesting to see Jamie Robertson fly the 800 and see what he thinks of it. He has a ton of experiance in the L800 so it's not like he isn't comfortable with an 800 sized machine (If it will stand up to what he throws at it then you know it can do 3d)

No problem, Scotty T. I'm not a good person to answer your question about 'smack' because I personally do not fly 3D. However, I thought you might appreciate knowing what Align's intentions were when they designed it, according to Align, verses the 700DFC. The fact that it will do 3D is a bonus!

Happy Flying! I hope that you find your answers.

Having built both, the 700 and 800, regardless of what it was intended for can do 3d. Remember this is a BIG heli and is not going to be as tossable as a smaller high powered smaller bladed heli. This 800 is no slouch and with a few mods can hold its own just fine. There are quite a few videos showing the capabilities as well as first hand account. Now if your looking for all out balls to the walls, you can drop in a 395 kv motor possibly rewinding and run it on 14s. It would then become a 3d beast and would rip up the sky. I see no reason thus far why the frame and mechanics would not hold up. Again there are a few mods you need to do but they are simple drop in items. It's a big whopping heli and a great deal for the price.
So get the additional frame supports, swap out that POS OWB block for the KDE version, swap out the cheap white main gear for the new improved black version and IMO, jump up to the cc160 unless you want another esc. IMO, I'd rather have a a stretched 700 than the porky logo 800 which seems to be less nimble due to the weight.

Have you actually flown a Logo 800?? The thing is VERY VERY nimble (Everybody who flies mine says how supprised they are by how nimble it is)

If you have flown one and thought it wasn't nimble maybe you need to dial up the V-Bar more.
