Default 6HV-Need more power?

Hello fellow compass 6HV owners, I have about 50 flights on my 6HV, although it is flying great it seemed to me it needed a little more power. I am currently using the stock motor and esc with 10T pinion and it was producing pretty good power, Today I was discussing the power of the 6HV with another Team pilot when he brought it to my attention about the esc timing. After going over my settings in my esc the timing was set at the default which was 15 degree's advanced, I was told to set it at 22.5 degree's due to the calculation of the number of poles the motor has. After setting the esc to 22.5 degree's and flying it back to back, wow what a difference! I was stunned at the difference it made. So if you haven't changed your timing to 22.5 I highly encourage you too unless you don't want more power.

Thanks, Happy Flying
Devin

Hey Devin any idea what the best timing would be for the Atom 500 with stock motor and ESC (Hobby Wing 60Amp Platinum) ?

Take the number of poles on the motor and divide it by the rotation of the motor 180 degree's.. The 6HV is 8 pole so:

180/8= 22.5

Pretty easy

Atom stock motor using 8 pole magnet so it should be 22,5 degrees. I use this timing since I got my atom and it produce so much power

How do you set the timing specifically to 22.5? I'm stuck with the stock Pentium, not Platinum and it sucks. I've been wanting to get my Atom off the shelf for a while, but it eats batteries and still makes no power. I have 30-40C Zippies and a 25C Outrage pack and I basically put the Atom on the shelf after I got my 450 Pro (sad, I know!).

One other thing of note is the dampeners. Is there any alternative to the Delrins? I had them in my Knight and took them out in favor of the K&B sets. They work a whole lot better IMHO and I'd like to ditch them on the Atom as well. Any suggestions?

No 2990 rpm on my Atom 500 that's what we tached it at. When we tached it at 100% throttle and no Gov. it was 3188rpm.

3200 on a 50 could be fun too.

If you live to tell about it.
