Default What a thrill!

I am sure all you FPV'ers can relate to my excitement! I did my maiden FPV flight today with my DJI 550 Flamewheel with a Fatshark Predator. What an awesome feeling! I have been flying helis for about three years now, and got into multirotors last year. I buddy boxed a friend's FPV-outfitted DJI450 last year and thought it was the coolest thing I had done in a long time!

I picked up the DJI kit during a Black Friday deal last year and it has taken this long to get it flying after a defective Naza-M lite set me back a few months. Well, I couldn't wait any longer, so I did some hovering outside my house. After a few quick peeks into the goggles, I felt comfortable enough to hover and slowly yaw for about four minutes!

This thing is so friggin' cool! Can't wait to get out to a bigger field and actually get some decent flying done!

I want to give a big thanks to the multirotor guys here on Helifreak who provided guidance and advice along the way. I am certainly hooked!

I just did a half a$$ maiden myself in my front yard. I kept looking up at it tho. this thing is harder then practicing on phoenix!!! Im using an external monitor for my setup but i do have the goggles. what advice would you have after your first flights going fpv? do you land fpv or conventional. Oh and I'm flying a big boy 800 lol I might have to put the fpv gear on my older 600 belt heli (scared to crash this 800)

I would never FPV a helicopter. It is just to expensive and time consuming to repair when you crash. I fly my quad from take off to landing with the goggles. I have a monitor for guest and have tried flying from the monitor and it is too hard, with goggles you are in the drivers seat. Just give your self some space and start slow. Get up in the air, go across the yard, turn and land.. take off and repeat a few times until the shaking calms down.. then find a bigger spot and do some slow circles. In time you will be zooming around like crazy.

Sailingeric, I have like 8 heli's now so i thought why not...? it doesn't take much time for me to repair. ( i had tons of time fixing and upgrading early on wth rc helis) What can i say.... i use to crash a lot. just making sure I'm going the safe route with all this and some good what to expect tips.
I read about FPV just about every day, but you never know when you get some valuable info you never knew or read before.
