Default Kontronik pyro 600-12

I just purchased this off the classified, seller said only 10 flights but upon inspecting the coils inside. They are black? Is this normal?

No doesn't look normal. Do they look burnt or is it sooty deposits? Like from a fire.

Something seems to have burnt up somewhere. It could be from the motor or perhaps a pack or ESC popped and the motor ingested the soot. It shouldn't look like that. The only way to see if its the motor is to remove the can and check the windings. In your photo one of the leads looks like it has a burn mark - check the blue lead.

The motor could be 10 flights old, maybe they weren't good flights.

Seller replied back and said it was from oiling the motor that caused the coil to come black.

Doesn't look like 10 flights only in my opinion. I have the same motor with over 300 flights and looks better.

If you end up keeping it and want it checked out by Kontronik USA Service. Please contact me via my Kontronik Email in my signature below and we can take care of you. I can clean it, check bearings and shaft for wear and also test the winding for damage.

On another note...are you really going to use a KOSMIK with this motor? A Jive100 LV would be a better suited ESC for this motor and size Heli this motor is for.

I agree. This motor is more for a 550 or 570 probably in 6S. A kosmik will be overkill. I have my 550 with this motor on 603 Edge SE with a HJ 120HV working perfectly.

Good to see you getting a refund. Number of flights would not mean much. It could have been an ESC fire or lipo fire which could happen even on flight one. Also I remember a motor getting messed up a bit due to heavy wear on the gear. However picture looked more like a fire on the heli.

So what heli did you try to get the motor for? As Greg and Nelvic mentioned this motor is for helis like some 500-550 size on 6s setup and I am not aware of a Kosmik fitting such heli.

A Kosmik would be massive overkill for that motor, it's very small. A Jive 100LV is perfect for it.

I just got the kosmic today and it's massive! My jive 100lv is on the way to Germany for repair. I only have the kosmic available to use.

I am amazed you are trying a Kosmik on a 500 heli.
