Also can you please explain what I parts I need to upgrade on my existing Chronos? I see a bunch of new stuff including a head upgrade. Finally do existing owners of Chronos get a discount?
Just curious what all the parts are and what the benefit is of it other than that it will not break in flight.

On the Chronos parts list I see:

1. Updated Blade Grip. Again my question is for existing Chronos owners do we get a discount on this part?

2. Updated Blade Grip Arm.

3. Updated Spindle.

4. Thrust Bearing.

5. Finally, Chronos 2015 Head Upgrade ($151.50).

These can be seen in the Chronos Parts List on ProStarHobby.com.

I hope Sebastian, Adam, or a Compass rep can explain which of these parts are recommended upgrades. I am also wondering about the Chronos 2015 Head Upgrade. Does this contain head parts which are different from those in the Technic upgrade?

Very good questions. I am eagerly awaiting a response.

OK,

I have the answers...

Of the parts listed, it would require all to perform the upgrade (including two additional sets of thrust bearings as the upgraded head has two thrust bearings per grip).

For the upgrade kit (part # 11-9000 ), the price of $151.50 is the discounted price (as only existing Chronos owners would want this).

http://www.prostarhobby.com/product-p/11-9000.htm

These parts are different than those in the current Technic Upgrade (which still has the previous version of the head/parts).

OK, so if I buy a chronos upgrade in the spring, will I also need to buy the upgraded head
parts? Or will the parts make it into the normal chronos upgrade kits?

Are we also noticing something performance wise or is it just for the reliability of the parts?

I just got the upgraded parts... The blade grip and collar are wider in diameter and appear to be even beefier than the originals. Also the grips are a bit longer than the original. I will be taking pics of these soon.

I'm not sure when I can find the time to install the upgrade but from what I can see it is both more robust, and, for hard flyers, the extra millimeters of diameter added to the disk area might be noticeable... Most likely not by me though.

I am glad I have stuck with Compass especially with the 7HVU/Chronos as Sebastian keeps on evolving and refining the design through out the years all the while still using the original tough 7HV frame and boom combo which has undergone only minimal changes.

Cyclo you couldn't resist and already got the new grips and arms?

I am enjoying my 7hvu and most probably will be Chronifying when the technic upgrade will come with those new grips and arms.

Default Question on Chronos 14s system?

Is anyone currently running a Chronos CHRY 700 on 14S with the SZ4926 Compass motor?
I'm intending 14S to reduce amperage and system temperatures and would like to know logged data for continuous and peak amperage for this helicopter on 14S if anyone has some information to share thanks.
Hoping to use a Hobbywing 130A / 160A HV 14S OPTO ESC if possible. I'm a sport aerobatic flyer not really any sustained 3D so a 160A/200A+ Esc maybe overkill especially for double the setup costs.

Usually you need a different motor kv, unless you're planning on running much higher head-speed? It is possible to re-wind motors to change kv, but as far as I understand it's usually better just to get a new motor. Sometimes you can get good deals on used motors.

Compass rate the SZ4926 as 14S capable and if I was to use there 11T pinion with 14S it's approximately about only 33RPM less head speed then the stock 13T pinion on 12S.
My concern is just what amount of amperage the SZ4926 on 14S will pull during flight and whether 160A peak will be enough , would the SZ4926 pull 200A peak on 14S or a lot less due to efficiency I don't know.
Thanks for any info .

Peak amps? As far as I understand, continuous amps and heat are much more of a problem than peaks (which are sometimes way over the ESC's rating with no apparent harm). And if your headspeed and gearing are not outrageous, I suspect you won't overheat the HW 130A on 14s. I think it was Quinn who was posting about using this ESC on a Protos Max 700 flying fairly hard 3D. So I would think it would be fine, especially if you're not doing hard 3D or speed runs.

By the way, I don't think many people read this thread. You might be better checking the HobbyWing sub-forum.

Thanks Cycled the SZ motors rating of 200A peak has thrown me a bit off I guess, so 160A maximum continuous for 10s with 14S in a Chronos should be ok.

"By the way, I don't think many people read this thread. You might be better checking the HobbyWing sub-forum."

I was starting to get that impression too but was hoping for Compass to support there specs on 14S and help me out with information . I sent them a technical support contact request a mount ago on the Compass website regarding my questions and didn't get a response there either.

I have a thread over in the HW sub forum as well ,thanks for your help Cycled and thoughts much appreciated.

You could PM Sebastian, but there doesn't seem to be any official support here

Amp ratings on motors are a little difficult to use in practice, as I understand it...

Firstly I tried to contact Compass website technical support, then found you can't PM Sebastian here on HF so gave this post a go not wanting to start a new thread.
It's ok I'm going to order the HW130A Esc ,a few people are using them successful in a variety of seven hundreds I'll give one a go too.
