Default 'New Timer' by Cermark - can't keep motor cool, help pse!!!!

I have a new Timer, which is a pylon mounted wing vintage style elec glider type with a nice gf fuse and a brushed speed 400 motor.
Looks nice and flies nice, BUT - - the enclosed motor got really hot every time I used it - the heat tranferred through the shaft alone was too hot too touch - god knows how hot the motor can got. You could certainly smell it!!!!!!
Anyhow, its given up the ghost and turns no more. So I got a medusa 28/30/1200 and an Otter ESC.
The trouble is any sensible prop size, like 8-9 inch will pull like 10-12 Amps and overheat it again. The nose is too slim to fit a gearbox for a big lazy prop. I can drill maybe a few 1/4 inch holes around the nose, but too many holes will weaken it and most likely start cracks spreading.
Any ideas guys (Other than cut the nose off and use a bulkhead mount, that would really spoil it).
