What program box is everyone using? I bought this one, but I can't seem to get it to connect to the esc so I can program it! Using it on the Platinum 50A V3

Jbobb.are you plugging in the throttle cable to the platinum esc? ?

The program box came with a few cables, the one with the two servo connectors on it...plug one into the box in the esc port...And the other end plug into the port on the very front of the esc down by the capacitors...it's a little plug in at the base of the battery leads closest to the esc

Let me know if this works

I'm plugging the throttle cable directly into the box according to the manual that came with the box. This box ( http://www.hobbywing.com/product_show.asp?id=215 ) only came with the usb cable, so I made a cable like you mentioned and connected it according to the esc manual, but still nothing. I'm thinking the box might be defective.

For kicks, it also has a lipo tester on it. Try that and see if you get a reading on the screen.
And it should have come with a couple cables in the bottom of the box, mine did.

I discovered this while upgrading firmware for my platinum v3 as it mentions in the program;

It looks like you have the old box, the new one is the "multifunction" which can handle the new escs and all old escs on the same firmware.

For that one you need to switch between firmwares to handle their old escs and new escs. If you connect to the PC and go to the firmware upgrade page it should explain that.

I had no idea either until I went to upgrade, just got lucky that I ordered the right one.

The box with the lipo socket can handle new & old, you need to change your firmware on that box to handle the new platinum v3, but you can't then connect to the old escs.

Yes it has to be an older box, the new box works flawless and comes with I think 3 cables....I'm not saying that ur box will not work, you may have to upgrade the firmware or do some more research getting it to work...

Sorry we cannot be of more help but I just got mine from heli direct, and it came with 3 cables and works very well...

Good luck man and keep us posted

Thanks guys! When I ordered the ESC from Helidirect, that box wasn't available, so I looked elsewhere. Just ordered the one you got kev0712! I'm out 22.00 but that's ok!

If you don't have any of the old hobbywing esc's then you don't need another, just change the firmware on the box you have and it will work.

The old box's come default with firmware to support their older esc's, so they won't work with the new ones, but you can change them over.

The New one from Helidirect will work out just fine for you....just remember...when you receive it...the manual to the program box kind of tells you to plug the throttle plug from the esc into the program box....that wouldn't work for me....I tried everything and the box came on but just stayed in the screen saying " connecting to esc"

The one you ordered now will come with I think three different cables for different things and you have to use the double sided male servo plug, plug one into the box, and the other one into the front if the esc down by where the battery writes plug into the esc...there's a port there that you use for programming...

I tried everything and was so mad it was pitiful, then I finally got out the manual to the esc and saw that they labeled that port for programming and it worked great....

Your gonna love it man....I have had about 7 flights with it that have been flawless...mine hasn't even gotten warm after 2 or 3 for minute flights back to back....And the bec rocks in this thing....got 50 bucks it is outstanding imho...

Lol....we know it will connect...but with the v3 platinum series you have to upgrade the firmware and then if you want to connect it to the older escs you have to one again change the firmware....the new multifunction box will allow you to connect to any of they're escs....And the new box comes with some handy cables.....this way when the new program box arrives he will be all set and not have to go through all cp stuff....

The New box is all worth it imho because it will connect to all of the escs...And the battery checker is kinda corney but I do find myself using it quite often...
