Tic Toc

Hello,

I am trying to dial in tic toc but I can not keep the heli in the air, it keep on sliding towards me (backwars) and downwards.

I have recorded a brief Phoenix video. Can you please have a look and advise what I am doing wrong?

A tic-toc is very much like a mini rainbow. You are supposed to spend equal times upright and inverted. From your video you are spending much time upright and not enough inverted.

im no pro by any means and cant do tic tocs that great yet either but i was flying with a guy yesterday on rf7 and he was showing me how to do them, and explained its all about the cyclic and the pitch is just used to stop the heli...like i said im not that good but the guy teaching me was awesome!!

It looks to me like you do not use enough elevator, and you do not flip backwards enough.
Especially once low, you barely pull back untill the helicopter is vertical, while you need to be at a 45 degree angle backwards.
Furthermore, make sure you go from max forward elevator to max backwards elevator. Pitch should be just enough to keep the helicopter in the air.

the thing that worked for me and helped me to figure out the push pull on the cyclic was doing them nose left or nose right so i could see what angle the heli was at during the manuever.

and it is also about collctive managment, you gotta use both pitch and elevator at the same time to do them figuring out how much and when is the key to learning them

One of the biggest tricks to learning a tic toc is that you need a LOT of cyclic and very little collective.

Most people learning give equal inputs of both. You only need to move the collective about 1/4 stick either side of mid-stick while you move the cyclic full (or nearly full) deflection.

...also... lead with cyclic, not collective.

This must have been answered on this forum, but I can't find it and still do not know it:

A question about physics - why does the heli need more power when doing the aileron tic toc starting to the right than when starting to the left (from upright position)? it makes the speed of the right tic toc much higher than the left tic toc.

Is it because the heli when in hoover is banked slighlty to the right due to the tail blowing to the left? I doubt it actually.

Tail rotor thrust.

Tail right, the TR is blowing air up and pushing the heli down. There is a lot of tail thrust in a tic toc, so the heli is being pushed down quite forcefully.

Tail left tic toc, TR helps hold the heli up in the air.
