Hi Chris,
Please be patient. I was in the same situation a few weeks ago. The system will work very effectively.
I found that a good start was to reformat the SD card using the described SDformater on www.JLog26.eu.
Everything sort of falls into place after you do that, and follow the instructions on the JLog site.
Tom on this site is also unbelievably patient and helpful.
Regards,
Andy

I have broken down into stages the sequence for setting up the jlog which area are you having trouble with.
1. Wiring loom

2. Formatting SD Card

3. Firmware updating

4. Configurator JLC

5. Registering Sensors

6. Alarms

7. Logging

PS I am stuck on item 7 I have downloaded logview 2 but I am unable to

Install LogView v2 and do that as the user who will finally run it. (Do not install as "administrator" but run as "Vetequk".)

-> Logging, Log Viewing

Log files are imported, not opened:

The common record format used (as JLog do) is OpenFormat.
Nevertheless, LV needs to know the record (line) structure: number of items, position of each item, its name and unit, and how to evaluate it.
So before importing a log tell LV which device to use:

There is a device already included which almost fits to JLog2.6 also: "SM JLog2":

("almost": it does not fit entirely regarding JLog-own sensors.)

In download we have more device description files.
Such a file is a .ini -- to be placed in %appdata%\logview\geraete\openformat (Here's the reason why you should run LV as the user who has installed it: "%appdata%" is in the local user area.)

Much easier teaching of LV is done by opening (yes, now open) the alternatively provided device file .lov. A file of that extension is an export out of LV -- containing everything: device definition, colors etc.

Afterwards the new device appears under "OpenFormat":

This should be sufficient as quick start instruction.

You did the BIG RED BUTTON on JLC before finally writing to SD card and powering down? Next power on is ONLY ONCE IT IS CONNECTED TO TX.

Then you have to register 8 times in TX and 9th will fail, then all sensors should be vissible in TX.
