Default Compass motor lube ?

Can anyone tell me if the stock compass motor SZ 2617 1400kv motor needs oiling on a regular basis. I`m used to doing so with the scorpion motor on my Protos.

Thanks.

Don't. Also on the scorpion. You will wash the grease out and will have to continue doing it. Too much trouble.

err... why not on scorp? Scorpion specifically insists you should lube it like every 10 flights or so.

"err... why not on scorp? Scorpion specifically insists you should lube it like every 10 flights or so."

I lube my Scorpion motors about every five flights or so. Scorpion recommends it. I have had friends who had Scorpion motors lock up in flight without lubrication.

It takes less than a minute to do, is quicker than rebuilding a helicopter due to a motor/bearing failure, and definitely much cheaper...

Yeah, I oil the scorpion on my protos on a regular basis, Have done for last 2 yrs & its sweet as a nut, but i`ve not read anything about the motor on my new warp.

What do you regular warp flyers do ?

I`ve only had 4 short flights, working out my flight times ( looks like 7- 8 mins @ 2300 rpm ) including the maiden, i don`t want to wreck the motor just yet.

If you've got the equipment you may grease them, but I wouldn't oil them. As stated earlier this will break down and wash-out all of the grease and leave them with no lubrication. I would venture to guess that scorpion bearings are oiled at the factory and such require oil to run with no problems.

I don't oil any bearings at all. If they get notchy, they get replaced, but never oiled because I don't want to oil everything every 5 flights and don't want bearings locking up if I forget.

+1 SMarvin, same here

There are a lot of topics about this and they all end the same. Do what you think is best.

I know what scorpion states. Used to oil my Scorpions. Since I stopped that they last longer

Well it looks like I'll leave it alone unless it becomes a problem.

It will be good to see if there is any difference between it and the scorpion which I will still treat the same old way.

Thanks for the advice.

I recently lubed - for the first time - my Atom 5.5's motor as it was becoming very noisy.

Apparently it worked. No more notches, no more noises.
