Anyone have any tips on charging the Spektrum (DX7) battery pack in a Bantam e-station BC6-10, what plug to use and where to get it, etc.?
About my DX7 charging problem...

What do you guys think of cutting the battery wire and mounting a deans male on the tx side and a deans female on the battery. That way I have a deans connector to charge the pack in the charger and no adapter needed?

Good idéa?

Sorry mate, with that charger I can't help you. I use a Schulze and use it to charge the Tx battery in 45 mins. With NiMh I use a discharge/charge cycle on all the time. 45 mins. Works a treat and I also do my Lpos the same way. A good unit.... (I also only use it with a 12v car battery and a car battery recharger when needed. The Schulze tell you this too. Check it out...

I connected wires with deans at the end in paralel to main ones of Tx battery and charging it this way all the time without even disconnecting it from Tx plug.

I use my BC6 to charge my DX7. I found a lead which fits perfectly in the jack socket on the Tx, added a powerpole connecter to it and hooked it up to the charger. It works great.

That's a great Idea, I got this reccomendation now from two persons.

I will cut the end of the charger and attach a deans connector where the wall adaptor is today, that way I can charge it using the same plug as my batteries and with the battery still plugged in the tx (taken out for heat reasons though)

Thanx guys!

Any idea on what amp I should charge it in?

The universal 1C would work nicely. You could go a bit higher, but what's the hurry?

Thanx bjkv, just wanna make sure you know it is a NiMh battery in the DX7, not Lipo.

Still 1C then?

I got hold of a wire like the one that come's with the core charger on the pic, and just plug the red to the black an black to the red on my bantam bc-6 to get it right on the dx7. Will get a lipo 4 the dx later.
If I get it wrong(wich I dont, hehe) the nice little Banta will let me know.

You could probably charge it with 2C or 3C as well. It's NiMH so it's able to take some abuse and will not explode i your face or something. 1C is a good rate.

The cells are NiMh and can take a higher charge rate. However the wiring and internal connections between the cells are likely very small gauge wire. I used to charge a Futaba 8s Tx pack and the wires at the end of the pack connecting the cells together would get warm at more than 1 amp.

True as well... Haven't checked that box. Let's agree that the cells will be able to survive more than 1C, but the wires might not. To be on the safe side, perhaps a 0.5C charge rate would do to get the battery full of life in about two hours. Usually there's no hurry when you charge your TX. You could charge it at 0.1C and go on for like 12 hours if you like. Over night, like it used to be.

What capacity (in mAh) is the TX battery?
