Default I still can't shake the intimidation.

Today, I got the Evo dusted off, and the FBL reprogrammed. First actual attempt at hovering around a little since my birthday, and a couple days after when the tail servo fried on me.

I don't know if I am just psyching myself out or what, but I am having a heck of a time with nervousness when getting this bird airborne. I don't know if it's because I have very little in the way of spares, or If I just need to grow a pair and take it up there and get a real good feel for it.

I can fly my smaller stuff just fine with very little nervousness. When I try to fly the Rush, you can definitely see my shaky hands coming through in the sticks.

I've begun to get a good feel of the handling, but man am I sloppy!

Hi,
I am by no means an advanced flyer, but I know exactly what you are going through. It takes time, but one day soon it will just click. It's the transition you go through from "keep it from crashing" to "flying".

If you can fly smaller models, you have the skills. You simply have to stop thinking about the size or cost of it. One day I just said, "It's just like the sim" and I have been having much more fun since. I was always stressed and shaky, but now I really enjoy flying my models, not just "keeping them from crashing".

If you've got it nailed on the sim, you can do it, just relax and don't over think it. If you stress about crashing, you probably will.

Trust yourself and you will be fine.

The size can intimidate some and the sound of the blades spinning up can get you also

my 750 with 753mm mains has a nice low woosh sound that you can feel in your chest when its at a hover. I love it but the first few times I was a little taken with it and i've been flying for years
had gassers, nitros and electrics. It really reminded me of my first lift off with my first gasser and how it beat the air.

Last summer when I stretched mine and ran 753's about 10 or so flights later I went back to 710's was scary when I'd be doing a move and seeing the 5 foot span of blades swinging at me lol

I totally understand all of this. Because you all basically just described the exact sensations. I can fly my 500 and 600 sized helis with no issues with exception of having to warm up to them a little.

That, and the lack of major parts support was a factor I think. With every whoosh of the blades I saw imaginary dollar signs in the rotor wash.

Another factor is this machine being so agile. I run full rates and very tiny amounts of expo (if any at all) on all my other craft, but the Evo has me starting with lots of D/R and expo adjustments, and gradually bleeding those off as I get used to the feel.
