Default Tail Response question

x5/xnova 4020-1200/gov 2000/2100 cgy750 tr servo fut bls 251

Starting to fly more aggressive (for me). First time I got "delayed" response from tail rotor input. Late on collective at bottom of high big sky rainbow and when corrected I pitched up and input rudder to turn nose in to fly back machine did not piro until it was "ready". I assume this is due to the physics of the moving machine overpowering the torque of tr disk.

Does this sound right ?
Aside from a tail servo with more torque are there any settings that help minimize this ?

Your HS of 2000/2100 is very low for a X5...

There is a speed up tail shaft to help with lower hs, but I needed it flying at 2300 rpm...

I would up the HS to 2300 and see how goes...

yeah the HS you are saying seems a bit low on a machine like the X5.
althought its not a heavy 520 blade bird, it does like high HS

In comparison to pro flyers us 'normal' people are inclined to have much worse collective management, so that in itself will already tax the tail a bit more , if we venture in the 'aggresive' flying ( even if a pro would call it sport ;-) )

I did the following changes on mine:
- increased HS , currently running around 2500 on Idleup governored ( for me personally , it at this moment more then enough to fly aggressive) , but the suggested 2300 might be a good start in reference to your current HS.
- increase the tailblade size.
- secure the tail rod guides securely to the boom , dno if it helped but I run a nice MKS tail servo, so would would I risk ( and I exaggerate now) => noodling the thing metal rod in respect to the CF tail rods you see on other birds.

I did the new tail blades last and for me personally that fixed my tail breakouts on the X5 for the tail heavy moves. I could make the tail loose it on command by flying , tail sliding sideways powerloops, now it just keeps going

I was noticing flexing in my tai rod, so I replaced it with a custom CF rod.

For a CF rod, you can look at this thread:
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...ht=cf+tail+rod

I did this a couple of years ago, with X7 guides, using the Goblin CF rod - I just don't remember which one.

To strengthen the CF tube mounting point where you glue and screw in the connecting rod for the ball link, I used a about 1/2 inch of aluminum tubing CA'ed over the CF rod rather than dental floss.

I ended up getting the trail speed up gear. It worked, but I typically flew at 2300 - 2500. I do think it added more stress to the trail gears and may have contributed too the falling gear issues I was having. I think if you brought your head speed up a bit you would really see a huge difference.
