Default os55 hyper rpm

The manual for my os55hzr says the proper full throttle rpm is 20,000. Yesterday I put the tm1000 rpm sensor on, and it read 22,500 @ 80% throttle, and its running a little rich. Am I overrevving it?

I kept it on the ground for that test, so about -2 or -3. I also realized my rpm sensor could be reading wrong. I might have to move it back

I believe the term is "practical" rpm range, and the high end was 20K. I believe it peaks on power output at 17,500 so much higher than that could be wasteful. I run about 17,800 on my OS-55.

80% throttle with a light load would definitely put the RPM way up there if you don't have a governor or limiter.

You are cranking up the headspead for sure.

I'd recommend getting a governor, I'm not sure if you really want to put those kind of rpms on the crank shaft with no load.
