Thunder Tiger X50e Motor Mounting
Good day all,
I am almost ready with the build of my X50e. All I have to do is install the engine and the ESC and than maiden it. The only thing I am worried about is the motor mounting. The motor shaft is from the bottom of the motor to the end of the shaft 1.9mm. This means that the shaft does not go through the lower motor mount and is only mounted through the four screws in the chassis. Is this going to be an issue in your opinions?! I think that for example Align mounts the motors like this as well (only four screws). |

GWRIGHT already answered me this on a different post.
Mow, without running the lower motor support bearing you may be fine for a while but the motor bearing wil wear prematurely. If that motor has a large bearing, then it may be Ok, otherwise you'll end up wearing that bearing sooner, and if it lets go then you'll need another maingear since the mesh will loosen. I'd highly recomment installing a longer shaft so it will engage the lower bearing. Another point to consider, if that motor has a soft shaft (flexible), you could also end up replacing maingears as they'll be stripping. anytime you have two gears they're constantly trying to "get away from each other" under load, hence the lower bearing to support the shaft on either side of the load. |

Gary is exactly right (err Wright) LOL.
What motor are you using? Is there a longer shaft available or has yours been cut down and just replacing it would solve the issue? I very much like the extra support mount on this machine, it saves parts and money :-) -Adam |

Hello Adam,
I have a Turnigy T600 880kv engine. 880kv because I want to use it with the standard 15t pinion in combination with a 6s LIPO. Can't find a replacement shaft for this and can't get the shaft out because the screws don't come lose anymore. Thinking of getting a Scorpion 4025 890kv. What do you guys think, is this a good choice? Only thing with Scorpion is that the distribution in the Netherlands is really bad. Can't find a reseller anywhere who has Scorpion on stock. Maybe in Germany? |
