Just looking for some advice from Novarossi 57 owners with the Novarossi pipe. I am getting a Trex 600 & swaying towards buying a 57. I fly fairly near houses so wanted to get your views on how noisy the Novarossi pipe is? If it is really noisy any suggestions/experience of alternatives. At the moment just basic sport flying/learning ff, 8's, rolls & flips so ultimate power isn't an issue ......Many thanks

Simple short answer - it's definitely louder than a standard 50 size.

The Novarossi pipe makes a higher pitch noise that is not cool and kinda annoying - like an angry moped

The Hatori 566 makes a deaper sound (cooler too)

The Funtech pipes are normally nice and quiet - so the OS powerboost pipe may be your best bet

Default bolts between pipe and header

I am having trouble with the bolts that attach the pipe to the header - I have sheared four bolts already and damaged the aluminum inserts that reside in the rubber flanges. My fan/clutch is balanced and dial indicated but the small bolts cant stand the vibes.

Anyone else with this issue? This is one to keep an eye on for sure. Perhaps I jinxed myself, but when I put this together, I wasn't that optimistic about it. There is quite a load on the pipe slinging around in flight.

On the plus side, this engine/pipe combo provides great power.

Hi
enya 3 maybe is little warm, but you can try, normally the 57 like colder pugs O5, Align 4 or Novarossi HR3.
About the carb smart, sure you can, Novarossi sale a special Needles with clutch built in system that help greatifully the user in the setting becasue you don't need to disconnect the linkage to set it.
About mix tuning is easy , but different to OS, ASLO as we tell to every one Novarossy engine come from standard super tuned, than like each engine tuned like run at the specific RPm that was designed for.
The 57 run very good between 17000 to 19000 perfect for heavy 3D in your 50 size heli.
About temerature , don't use OS one reference, but use the Novarossi than back plate 50 / 55 and head 110 / 120 and enjoy you.

BTW here a new video that we make during the Alpine Heli Smachdown.

Anyone running this motor in a Raptor 50? The motor is actually just a little big for the motor mount! Wondering if you are running it yourself or even know someone, and if you do did they dremel the motor mount to get it to fit?

Dear For the new raptor we discovery that the lower part of our engine have too many ribs, we designe it using a older engine mount and we was screwed.
Now we will modify the crank case, but per istance as many user already do, you can dremmel out the extra ribs in the lower crank case side and fit it into the new raptor engine mount.
Hope my explain come right to you.

Give the part # to you're dealer and they can order you one.

MaSt0RaS,

You should probably lower the compression (add head shims). My Rex .91 needed much more than the manual stated for 20% (Rotor Rage). I'm running an Enya #3 plug as well. The motor didn't run well at all until I experimented with the head shims. I'm currently running .4 mm, and it seems very happy.

Well, .4 is enough for me in Mississippi with my combination of fuel and plug. It's very well possible that in your climate .4 isn't sufficient for the fuel/plug combo that you're using. Just an idea, but if it were mine, I'd shim it until it ran correctly and go from there.
