Can you get to that switch in a hurry? You using the airplane model DX7 with that switch way down low on the left side? Because, on the Heli model DX7, that switch is on the face of the radio and a pain to get to if you REALLY need it. Probably hard to fly with a finger on it, too.

Exactly. When I was first learning, I was told to put it there, because it was the most common... When I used to get buddy-boxed, the instructor knew my radio was set up with the same throttle hold as everyone else and there were no surprises.

Yes, airplane radio - converted throttle stick for better helicopter usage. As I said though, this is largely a matter of personal preference. I am used to using the right-hand shoulder switch for dual rates, which I don't use on helicopters, but that way I don't get confused, because on some of my planes I have been able to program the gear switch to be a throttle kill switch by using programmable mixes. So things are consistent for me...

I don't consider throttle hold one of the more important switches. I hardly ever use switches at all during flight. If I want to auto or something bad happens, it's easy enough to reach with the grip style I use. I use a shoulder strap for the transmitter and pinch grip on the sticks, so it's tricky to reach any of the switches regardless of where they are, and the left-hand switches are a bit easier.

I am kind of hard core - I never give up. I do not use the throttle hold in a crash as I probably should. If I make a mistake, I try to fly out of the situation until it's all over. Granted, this has only happened once... and I was able to get to the throttle hold in time to prevent a lot of damage. I can get to it quick if I need to.

I do consider it important as far as safety goes. If I need to mess with the heli or carry it while it's alive, I put the throttle hold on, set normal flight mode, and hold my thumb on the throttle to keep it down - habit from planes. And I always have it activated when I plug in... the DX7 doesn't activate if throttle hold is on, which is a little weird... so every time I turn it on, I flip the switch twice, so the radio will activate and the TH is also active. Force of habit

I finally got everything all wired up tonight and will be posting the last videos as soon as I can. It is amazingly smooth and powerful, but I haven't had a chance to really fly it yet. Will be sure to get video when I do, but the first flight will probably just be hovering and stuff - with training balls! I always like to use those on a new heli or after a major repair, just in case it wants to crash right away or something

I didn't get the wiring clean at all, because my little wrench is rounded off, and I can't find another one, and I need to take the frame apart to get the wiring the way I want it, but it's all working nicely and everything is tied down the way I like it. Balance is perfect with an 800mAh E-flite battery. The heli itself hit my wallet too hard to get the Thunder Power batteries I want to use with it

Yeah I'll be doing that one tonight. It was a little weird the first time I went through it. I had to reverse both the gyro sensing and my rudder stick, because I put the thing on there backwards

I'm having problems,I have everythign set up properly...
but when I go to spin up, the tail spins hard right, when it gets up to headspeed
or the HEAD will tilt hard to the right, just before lift off?
Also, what should the Gyro be set to in the DX7 radio? 60-70% or 30-40%
I get confused ...

Hard core doesn't have to include stupid too

I pay for my own stuff, so I don't like to crash it.

On the gyro - 51% seems to be "Off" and above that is heading hold, while 50% and below seems to be rate mode. I do not know and can not recommend specific values for the gain for anyone, because it's different for everyone depending on many factors, but I will show you how to figure it out.

Great stuff Jasmine - looking forward to the last videos - I like that you do a lot of detail - I know not everyone wants it, but I find it really helpful. Thanks for all your work.

I found this method to be nearly useless on the little 250 blades. For those, I just screwed them together and held them on my finger - they were already perfect.
